I got paid $100 tonight to stand and watch one of my favorite guitar players. It was nice..I just stood there, strummed chords, took a solo every now and then, but mainly watched Blake. That dude is so good

I actually like Pat's new album. Do I think it's overproduced? Entirely. And Don Gehman AND Justin Pollard co-produced the album. Is it my favorite album? Not at all, but Pat did use a Radney Foster song, and co-wrote with Justin on several songs. I think it's decent, just not what people expect from Pat. Wait til you hear Randy's new one...
And I love Roger, but I had to stop seeing him live. He tells the same stories and never changes his set list. I can quote an entire Roger show, lol.
Anyway, just thought I'd throw my two cents in. :o) Have a great weekend!
I think my opinion will change eventually. That's what happened with Wave on Wave. I was mad because it didn't sound like a Pat Green record, but it eventually grew on me. I like Wave on Wave more than I want to admit.
Like my friend Justin said, the new Pat record just sounds uninspired. Even his singing sounds uninspired...like he doesn't really believe what he's singing. There are some good songs on it though. I love "Feels Just Like It Should" and "Lost Without You".
I dunno...one thing I've learned is that I'm more opinionated about country music than anything else on the planet. And I'm also inconsistent with my opinions. But that's okay...they're my opinions, I can be inconsistent if I want to be!
Oh, and Roger's guitar player is quickly becoming one of my favorites. I've listened to the last solo on "Late Night Case of the Blues" from Live Across Texas I don't know how many times this week. That dude is so bad.
Oh I love Roger's band! Totally. All his records are done with a studio band, though. I just learned that recently. I love Roger's music, too, I just get bored at his shows now.
Hey I'm all about the inconsistent opinions...I like that you say what you think when you think it. I was really unsure about Wave on Wave myself, but now I really think it's my favorite. Just seems more introspective than anything else Pat has done. As for Cannonball, Feels Just Like it Should is by far my favorite, and I love Dixie Lullaby(it reminds me of my grandfather). It's growing on me..at first I was like oh my, what has Pat done? I agree that pat just kind of sounds...listless. Like he just wanted to get the album over with. My boyfriend was at the listening party with Pat on Tuesday, and he said that Pat did Cannonball, and the rest of the songs he played were Wave on Wave and before. That makes me think he isn't entirely thrilled with this album, but who knows?
