NAME: Kaito Kuroba | Kaitou Kid
RACE: human
AGE: 17
CANON POINT: After Chapter 30 of Magic Kaito and Chapter 792 of Detective Conan
REFERENCES: The Magician
The Thief
GENDER: Male. Definitely male through and through- never mind that he takes joy in cross dressing on occasion.
APPEARANCE: Kaito is pretty average as far as appearances go- well, maybe just a bit more adorable than your average teenage boy-and boy does he know how to play it up. He's Japanese with bright blue eyes brimming with mischief, glee and maybe something else but unless you really know him, it's really easy to miss. His hair is a dark brown and spikes up in all directions to reflect his unruly behavior. He has a few scars here and there but nothing really noticeable. His grin does not quite reach his ears.

It's not really part of his appearance, but he does work with fire crackers a lot so he'd have a smell vaguely like gunpowder to him.

PERSONALITY & HOUSE REQUESTS:
Kaito is a magician. He is, first and foremost, a show man. He's been learning and practicing the art of stage magic since he was very little as his father was a world renown magician and, in Kaito's book, the best in the world. Even though the poor kid has suffered some sadness he doesn't let it slow him down. He locks his real emotions behind what he calls pokerface and puts on a grin for all to see. He's the master at cheering people up or ticking them off. Very high on his list of favorite people to aggravate is his childish best friend Aoko Nakamori and the girl's father Ginzo Nakamori. His favorite way of ticking off Miss Nakamori is by means of flipping her skirt, saying something perverted, pranking her, calling her a male, or just… bothering her at school. He is a trouble maker with a capital T.

Kaito is a very social guy and he'll talk to anyone that wants to talk. He's good at mixing into society, making friends, and just generally getting along with others. He's quick to adapt to things and is an absolute pro at keeping his cool in most situations. He owes this, of course to pokerface. Although, he is a bit of a spaz during the day. One of the only times anyone will ever see him outright flip out is if he is faced with fish. Yes, Kaito Kuroba is terrified of fish.

He's a pretty laid back guy, usually but there are a few things he won't tolerate. Harmless pranks don't bother him as long the person knows it's only teasing and isn't hurt by it, he'll laugh along and sometimes- a lot of the time, do his own pranking. But, he does not like it when other people get hurt and Death is… something he really doesn't handle well. Quite possibly because it hits a little too close to home since he lost his dad, who was his hero, at the young age of nine to a horrible stage 'accident'. Despite all that, though, he's mostly a normal high school boy just a bit… hyperactive. He's not so good at paying attention in school and usually has a news paper out to keep up with current events. Honestly though, he doesn't need to pay attention-at least, in muggle high school. Hogwarts, I imagine would be a bit different. The only person he openly does not like is a detective that has a habit of flirting with that love interest and accusing him of being a thief, Saguru Hakuba.

Earlier it was stated that, during the day, Kaito can be a bit of a spaz. It was also stated that he was mostly normal and that a famous detective regularly accuses him of being a thief. Well, there's a reason for that as Kaito is secretly an internationally wanted thief- Kaitou 1412. Or, more commonly known to the public of his world-Kaitou Kid. Kid is a daring and elusive criminal master mind that always announces what he intends to steal and when he intends to steal it-sometimes, when he feels like it, he'll write a cryptic message in his heist notice and secretly laugh when the police have trouble figuring it out. And he always returns what he steals.

Kid employs the use of stage magic in all his heists to keep his adoring fans guessing. Yes, he has fans. Hundreds-possibly thousands of them. No performer, after all, would be complete without his audience. And, he is very protective of his fans. However, he is also protective of the task force designed to catch him and the detectives that are generally annoyed by him. Even though he's a world famous thief he still has morals and does his absolute best to ensure no one gets hurt at a heist. When this does happen, however, he feels personally responsible for not finding a way to prevent it. He has a habit of helping the police catch much worse criminals than himself and seems to offer a hand when ever he can as both thief and teenage boy.

The reason why this teenage boy became a jewel thief is because at some point while he was sixteen or freshly seventeen he came across his Dad's biggest secret- that secret being that Daddy-dearest was secretly the original Kaitou Kid and had left a tape to play for Kaito when one day he inevitably ran across the room hidden behind a portrait. Unfortunately, the tape was old and had rotted so the explanation for why his father was a thief was lost on the poor boy. Shortly after he met up with his dad's old friend who revealed to him that his dad had not died in an accident but instead had been murdered. Anger over his father's death restored, Kaito vows to find the ones responsible and learn why his dad had to die-something he did accomplish, only to get thrown into a deeper mystery as the murderers were looking for a gem stone- a magic gemstone that glows red under the moonlight and cries tears when a certain comment passes to make the drinker immortal.

Kaito only wants to find the gem before the bad guys and destroy it once and for all to avenge his father, the late magician.

considering Kaito's- ability to keep calm, think rationally, tendency to help those in need and er… nightly profession and his reasons for taking said job I actually think he'd be more suited to Gryffindor. And if not Gryffindor-since the kid is a genius criminal master mind It-really, it's a tie between Ravenclaw and Slytherin. I know it says to choose one other choice but I really couldn't decide between the other two.

COMMUTER DETAILS: Kaito is with whoever is not killing and torturing hundreds of innocents. But, he would like to be able to keep an eye on current events.

POSITION: Student.

ORIENTATION: Kaito, as far as I know, is very straight. As evidenced by his fascination in flipping his best friend's skirt and breaking into the girls' locker room. Plus his canon love interest is a girl. So… I'd say he's straight.

ABILITIES & POWERS: Kaito, as previously stated is a magician. That means he is very, very gifted with smoke and mirror magic. He is so good with normal sleight of hand and stage magic that if anyone didn't know better, they might mistake it for real magic. To help him with his theatrics he can mimic any voice he hears and disguise as anyone he feels the need too flawlessly. And, as an added feature his acting and acrobatics are second to none. And they'd have to be if he's going to go gallivanting across the city at night. I have always thought he has an unmistakable knack for art and impeccable hearing. He is human, however, but even though he has no powers that will not slow him down-he's a very bright boy and knows how to use his brain to make up for the lack of super powers.

WAND: For Kaito, I know it's odd, but I was actually thinking Eucalyptus with a Dragon Heart String core- springy and about ten inches.

MISC.: I hope you don't mind, but I did use an alternate wand directory

Kaito is a magician and as such his pet of choice is actually a dove-or doves. Is it okay if he has a few with him?

Also, At Magic draft, I can't really see Kaito deciding to use his mysterious Kid persona seeing as he doesn't want to point fingers his way- he will probably be doing a bit of research on his jewel and a few other things but probably never parading about in his white tuxedo.

WRITING SAMPLESFIRST PERSON:

[Kaito is playing with his commuter and switching the settings back and forth. His faces flashes on the the screen for a moment before it goes black again, then to a parchment-colored screen displaying some jumbled letters until they're erased and replaced by the quick drawing of a spade. He switches the setting back to voice, the sounds in the background indicate he's settling down to lean against his pillow.]

You know, most people would be pretty upset about waking up in a place other than where they fell asleep-but I'm willing to over look the kidnapping thing-[the spade is erased and replaced by a top hat with flowers coming out of it and a doodle of a dove] -Since this thing is pretty cool. Beats the iPad, that's for sure. [now he's just drawing swirls and after a moment stops, his tone turning thoughtful]

I was never really one for school spirit, but I'm curious, defend the school from what, exactly?

THIRD PERSON:

Even back in Ekoda Kaito had always known he was missing something-there had to be something he hadn't yet thought of. Had to have been. There was no way an evil criminal organization managed to gain so many members and agents that held no grudges about killing innocent people without some sort of proof their goal of immortality was attainable-and not relative proof-irrefutable, concrete, tangible evidence that Pandora was a real gem-no matter how crazy the legend sounded. Which was why the thief had looked into anything he could and was available to him regarding legends and immortality granting gemstones. And yet… he had always just felt something was missing from his research.

And now, here it was to slap him in the face.

The Multiverse theory. Alternate. Universes.

It made some amount of sense that maybe the jewel he was after wasn't even in his universe and the organization had only heard of the Pandora gem through whispers and echos through other universes. The only thing that didn't fit with his theory was the idea that they had some kind of proof. The book slammed closed as Kaito sank into a chair at the library and tried his hardest not to give a defeated sigh-he wasn't giving up. He wasn't even discouraged. It was just that he was starting to feel a bit tired as he'd been reading this new material over several hours. It was time for a break. Besides, he'd been antisocial enough for one day-time to find something fun to do, like maybe learn how to turn the trees a crazy color- maybe purple, or pink or-polka-dot.
