There's a 'music' project I've been playing around with off and on for a few years now. I got it into a rough finished form before the house fire, and gave my Mom a copy of it on a CD. When the house burned down, it destroyed all of the material I had built up over the years that went into it, and the rough draft my Mom had was the only record ( Read more... )

I'm showing 5 people seeding it now, including my work PC and home PC, so I'm assuming someone has successfully downloaded it now. Can you confirm for me whether you were able to grab it all? Apparently there were some hiccups getting this thing going...

At this time, Leandra is seeding 605.7 MB of data; only 409.4 MB of data have been uploaded, however. The BitTorrent client in question shows that the download is complete, consisting of two files: "About Songs of Barbelith.rtf" and "Songs of Barbelith.wav"

No peers are seen at this time.

You might want to look into flac. I'm not sure what sort of compression it offers over wav, but it's a very popular format among music enthusiasts and audiofascists alike.

Awesome, I'll check it out. Hopefully I'll be able to give it a try tonight. Thanks!

(I'll be curious to see how FLAC handles this one. If anything is going to stress test lossless compression, this is it.)

FLAC rocks my lame ass. fendahleen September 8 2008, 19:01:27 UTC
Ah, I am defeated by the awesome might of FLAC. I had entertained a romantic notion of being able to say the Songs were so dense with layered sound that they effectively could not be compressed, but FLAC achieved 59% compression (247MB FLAC vs. 605 MB WAV) with the default settings and I can't tell the difference between the FLAC file and WAV. Thanks again, Cull!

Yes! It's done and sharing. There was a power outage while I was at work, but I just reloaded it.

It's not fully downloaded yet, but I'm at 54% and downloading at roughly 30 kb/sec. I've only uploaded 5.3 kb since I started downloading it, which means either someone else is taking up most of the load or there's barely any demand.
