Ok parents.. what would you do? (or a rant if you don't have kids)

My son is in daycare in Oak Ridge. He goes Monday through Friday from 8:00-5:00. He has attended this daycare since he was 8 weeks old (he is a week away from being 6 months old). Recently, my son was diagnosed as having RSV which requires a breathing treatment every 4 hours. His daycare has no problem giving him the treatments, seeing as they ( Read more... )

DAMN.... Your anger is rightfully justfied however professional, you should direct your anger at the manager. But at the same time, when my daughter attended la petite, you can bet that i chatted up with the workers so its not like thats really unsual to get into a conversation regardless of the topic. You just have to watch who you direct your anger at. The manager has a right to stick up for her employees when she feels they might be threatened. So calling you into her office is her perogative ( ... )

Thanks for your input Chris. I guess I left out a bit of info though:

1. I've been speaking with the director because before this incident happened, the same teacher brought her child in with RSV and didn't tell anyone..(that's how Bryce caught it)

2. Her office isn't really an office. It's a desk right next to the entrance. Any parent bringing their child in could've heard the conversation.

3. I've been told several times by numerous workers at the daycare that the teacher causing problems was going to be "taken care of"... (after all this shit I wish it was "taken care of" mafia style)

I think I'm just going to check out other options..I'm over their bullshit.

I dont blame you. That is pretty rediculous, however I still think i would go overboard and start handing out printed fliers to the other parents telling of the situations. I am vengefull like that.

glad to know i'm not the only parent who feels this way. I love the pics of little chris...absolutely gorgeous. Also, I am looking to get rid of some of Bryce's 0-3 month clothes..if you are interested.

I'm a little late on the reply here, but let me just totally back you up and say you're 100% correct. You are right to be angry, and the director shouldn't have scolded you like that. I'd be willing to bet that the director is afraid to stand up to the employees- I've seen that spineless attitude so many times.
Incidentally, I am now volunteering one day a week at a daycare. It's required for credit in my child psych class, and I'm very impressed with how well everything is handled. About half the kids there are special needs kids, and seeing how things work in that place really illuminates the difference between GOOD daycare and MEDIOCRE daycare.
Is RSV something that will go away with time, or is your little boy stuck with it as a result of some ho's negligence?

Good to hear from you! I'm glad someone without children feels the same way I do. I was beginning to think I am/was a bit overprotective. When I was younger I was enrolled in a "mediocre" daycare and even at the age of 8, I knew something wasn't quite right with the teachers...they just didn't seem to care. Of course this was a franchised daycare which didn't mind if you were 18, fresh out of high school, with no training what-so-ever.

On to the question...No, RSV isn't permanent. If it were, there would be a "ho" without kneecaps. RSV (can't remember the actual name) is pretty much like the common cold, but in preemies or children with breathing problems, the extra mucus from a cold/RSV can block their underdeveloped airways.

How have you been by the way? and when do you plan on coming back to K-town?

Oh ok. I'm glad she didn't permanently infect your son with something. I had heard of RSV but never knew what it was.
I've been good, and very busy. I am headed to Knoxville this weekend, but only briefly. My apartment is getting inspected and they don't know that Charles and I have a cat. So to avoid a $500 fine *OUCH* we are not going to be around for the inspection. IF you email me your phone number and I have any time, I'll call you. Otherwise I won't get to see you til I'm in town for longer. But we need to get together. :)

Sounds good. I hope they don't find out about your cat. I had to give up my security deposit to keep my dog. Check your email for my phone number!

I would pull him outta that place and cut my losses, because it seems they have some management issues they can't resolve. I wouldn't trust any child in the care of these people, anyone that would deny a baby his medicine because they "Thought" not knew something isn't fit to be in business.
