I really don't know what to say in that I don't read so much but...Have you read Stephen Colbert's I am America (and So can You)? Its pretty funny and a bit long. I also recommend bringing some Japanese stuff you can study or play with because its good for you and kills some time. I have a kanji game on my DS so it was all the more easy.
As for movies...I don't know what you've already seen but I recently saw Up and Quarantine and loved both, though Up is obviously a kids movie (but a good one) and Quarantine is horror. But there you go.
Good lukc and have a safe flight!

LOL! I read the Stephen Colbert Book on last year's trip to Japan! XD ya, that was ridiculous!

Up was so cute! and Quarantine was also good, but I like the Spanish movie ("Rec.") it was based on better.
Hell ya, I love horror movies! :D

Yeah, I saw ads for the Spanish version while I was in Japan, but it being in Spanish and subtitled in Japanese, I never took the chance to watch it.

Sorry I couldn"t come up with better ideas. If you haven't started it yet, The sookie Stackhouse Novels are pretty good. They're the story True Blood is based on and each book is pretty cheap in the us--you can probably even find them at the airport store if you wanted.

Not sure if you have read any of the Miles Vorkosigan books by Lois McMaster Bujold, but they are delightful.

And any discworld book is good.

If you want something intellectual, the first volume of story of the stone (dream of the red chamber) is quite funny. But don't read any of the later volumes. They get sad really fast.

Anything of Christopher Moore's books. They're fun and easy reads. "Lamb" is his best.

I still haven't read that one. The Stupidest Angel is straight up stupid fun too. It has a dumb angel, multiple personality disorder, a santa zombie!
