Heian!Japan, Heian!Kyoto - Meeting Murasaki Shikibu or Sei Shonagon
Himaruya recently revealed designs for the Japanese prefectures, and according to them Kyoto is represented by a female. Well, Kyoto used to be the capital of Japan in past times, and is still a bastion of Japanese traditional culture; also it's the place where Murasaki Shikibu (author of Tale of Genji) and Sei Shonagon (author of The Pillow Book) developed their cultural activities and their rivalry.
So! I'd like to ask for a fic in which Heian-Period!Japan and Heian-Period!Kyoto-tan actually meet these two ladies and are witnesses to their writing activities. Chatting with them, asking them about their poems and novels, whatever you wish as long as it's Murasaki or Shonagon-related and it shows you've made at least basic research about the Heian period!
Bonus if the fic ends with Japan and Kyoto in a modern setting, recalling these times and making parallels between past, present and future.
