I believe that Penrose was closed a few years back.... maybe someone can prove me wrong, which would be great... but last I heard it was gone.

Hi there, track riding is so cool. No gears, no brakes, so close to the bike in front and those banked curves make it so fast - wow. I used to live in Manchester, UK where there was a great velodrome, you could hire bikes for taster sessions and stuff, but you had to take a competence test before you were allowed to race (which I failed incidently, which I still blame on the fact I wore a soccer top that day and not lycra). Obviously I don't know anything about Penrose tho! It should be similar though.

well, there's a velodrome out here on the east coast that kicks alot of ass, there's a free training program, racing and the bike flea market.

I'm a pretty hardcore roadie, but I dated a trackie and he's got me wondering about taking a spin at riding fixed (on the street) and riding track (on the track).

Well go for it. As I said track riding is fun, and of course you can do it in any weather, so great for the winter. It's not the same as grinding the gears on a climb though. Ciao.

Saw your post on the St. Louis community, and desided to check out your page since you said you were from PA.

I haven't heard much on velodromes in STL. Have you checked out http://www.stltoday.com? It may have something there for you.

Well, take it easy.

No I haven't. You may want to give them a call. I am a STL resident, I'm just not in STL right now, otherwise I'de call it to confirm its existance.

I'm from Quakertown myself, and moving to St. Louis end of '05. Actually going to visit there on the 12th.

While I'm there I'll take a look for you.

Randomly came across your LJ name, you are jewish and asian? Very interesting. And how did you land that job at the hospital!?

yerp, I'm asian and jewish. and therefore super extra smart? (hahaha)

I'd like to say I got my job in pediatric research through my winning personality and stunningly good looks, but more modestly, I think it resulted from seeing an intellectual investment in the future and pity for my situation. and my ability to nod and smile and act like I understand.
