I gave money to a woman who said she needed it for gas to get home to someplace in GA (Elberton?) and to feed her child, who has a fever... supposively. She said she'd pay me back and send me the money via Western Union once she's home. (I gave her my address.) I felt good for a while because I was helping her, but afterwards the voice in my head

You are a kind person! But I think you would be better off thinking the money is gone, and then pleasantly surprised when it comes back.

I don't think anything serious can happen if she has your address.

I know your heart was in the right place, but it would not have been something I would recommend doing. Yes, it's a sad commentary on today's soceity, but I trust very few people. I would worry about her showing up at your house asking for more money. Be careful!
