ISO: old guitar

Does anyone know where I could find a guitar for cheap? I'm in UNF's production of "The Taming of the Shrew" and one of the props we need is a guitar that's supposed to be smashed over a characters' head. Ideally, the guitar would be one that's headed for the garbage anyways since I'd hate to ruin one that's functional. Any help would be

Try your local Goodwill or Salvation Army thrift stores. They may have something that's been donated but isn't good enough to put out for sale--that sounds like it might work for what you need it for.

Wouldn't a real guitar...hurt?? And once you smash it once, you can't use it again?

We're cutting a hole into it so the actor can put his head through it.
The head bashing occurs off stage.
