This afternoon i came across a friend's blog and her latest entry was about weddings and how they lead to divorce. She mentioned a few things that I wondered about because I never actually thought of it

As a sibling who voluntarily doesn't speak to his sibling, I find out if my sister is going to be there and if so I don't go. I love my family, but I have a saying: "Family" is not license for abuse. Physical or verbal. I also, however, am not particularly sentimental or emotionally attached to much of my family, so I don't feel like I am being excluded or that I am missing anything if these events come up. I move on. C'est la vie. :)

That's a good way of thinking about it. I can only take my experience with my family and I know others have different experiences with their own so I can definitely understand why she would be concerned about family members not getting along or not speaking to one another. It's good that you can move on, many people find it hard to do that.
