[well that startles him into dropping his book and the notebook he was taking notes from it in. Quickly gathers them up, stuffs them into his backpack and heads in the direction of the scream, shaking just a bit]

[backed into the corner of a room is Alma... but there's nothing in sight that could be scaring him like this.]

[write_silence]

[looking around, startled and confused, and finally looks at Alma and tilts his head, biting his lip. Why for you so scared, Alma?]

B-be careful! It might jump! [this guy has moved in. :D]

[jump? Finally Lavi catches sight of the culprit and almost smiles. Okay, it's just a spider, that he can deal with. He was afraid he was going to see his first one of those Akuma-things.

Slowly walks over to the table, picking up a big glass candleholder and taking the candle out of it, then walks over to the web where spider is just hangin' out chillin'. Looks up for a moment, trying to figure out the best way to do this without scaring the crap out of Alma in the process.]

La-Lavi, you shouldn't d-do that... what if it gets mad? Stay away from it! [poor Alma. he hates spiders. :|]

[write_silence]

[looks over his shoulder at Alma and smiles, shaking his head. He knows what kind of spider this is and that he won't get nommed. Very gently, he reaches up with the candleholder, sort of scooping spider off his web. Sorry big guy, you're getting evicted.]

[shriek. flattening self against the wall now orz.]

[write_silence]

[aww, poor Alma. Lavi quickly takes the poor confused spider out of the room and to the nearest courtyard, and gently tips him out of the candleholder onto the grass. There you go, critter, find a new home now, okay?

He'll return a moment later with the empty holder and give Alma a reassuring smile.]

[super small voice.] Is it gone?

[write_silence]

[nods, putting the candle back in its holder and setting it back on the table. All gone, Alma, don't worry~]

[almost collapsing with relief.] Thank you! I... I was really scared of it. I know that sounds silly, but I really don't like those...

[write_silence]

[shakes his head, it doesn't sound silly to him! Most people are. Lavi isn't because he knows all sorts of things about their biology and evolution and thinks they're super interesting.]

... but what was it? It didn't seem like it scared you at all. Doesn't it bite?

[write_silence]

[shakes his head, then grabs the notebook he was writing in earlier out of his bag, flips to a blank page and writes the words "Orb-weaver spider. Eriophora transmarina. From Australia... bite is painful but not poisonous." Then holds it out to Alma.]
