So today is all about the waiting. I really do hate this part. :p
Because yesterday I wrote comment porn for
hoosierbitch's White Collar episode recap instead of writing up my own reactions, I still owe y'all an episode post. Seems like a good enough way to distract myself, anyway!
Okay so first things first, I was seriously concerned that one or two people on my flist might spontaneously combust in the scene where Peter's being the "bad cop." Especially when he makes that Very Serious Face right at the camera and says "I can tell you're dirty just by looking at you." I want to see fics now where Neal and/or El requests to see Bad Cop!Peter in the bedroom...
Diana is the awesomest. Forced as it was, I loved the fluffy-bathrobe bonding scenes. (and yes, in case anyone was wondering, I did get a little ready when Neal was talking about his first date with Kate. Stfu, I'm a romantic.) And the scene where she demonstrates her absurdly quick draw had me loudly cheering.
This is the second time we've seen Neal express real disgust for a bad guy's misogynistic comments. It doesn't feel like a class thing -- like "oh, rape jokes are so ~vulgar~" -- but like it really upsets him. Considering that you'd think someone who'd spent years in prison would be desensitized to that kind of thing, I think it's an interesting element of his character and something I'd like to explore in a fic. potentially a fic where Neal has two moms.
Mozzie is so great, omg, the whole scavenger hunt thing was AMAZING. I love that they mixed things up to show us Neal with Diana and Peter with Mozzie -- it shows us sides of the characters that we might not normally see. Favorite subtle moment: Mozzie votes "more often than you might think." :D I do wish that at some point they'd taken the opportunity to point out that Neal, as a convicted felon, can't actually vote, but only because that's a law that I find particularly fucked up. Can we not be disenfranchising people, pls?
"Undercover as a hooker" is very much NOT a favorite cliche of mine, especially having just seen it done with maximum ridiculosity on that new show "Covert Affairs," which incidentally pretty terrible, IMO. But at least Diana handled it like a pro (a pro agent, god!) and didn't have to be all helpless and menaced at any point. That was a relief.
I can't think of anything more to say! Oh yeah, except, "Hey, look at you. You got a park built." Adorable
