oh my god SO BASICALLY sherlock is a monolith of a fandom and despite being in it for the last 9? months? i still find it kind of terrifying. i've found the entire experience a bit like shouting into the void and sometimes people shout back? and if your shouting doesn't include sherlock/john in some form, you've lost the interest of like, 98% of fandom. /o\ seriously, this pairing probably contains 5x the amount of fic for all other pairings combined.

it's also not nearly as close-knit as any of the other fandoms i've been in--people seem to usually stick to their small predefined circles? i have no idea how easy it is to break into the writers' circle--i haven't really tried. most of them seem very nice though. :D sherlockbbc is the main lj comm. most of the chatter seems to happen over at tumblr though.
