Realizing when it's time to get out of the relationship

As part of a general housecleaning/winnowing of kipple, I've been going through boxes and boxes and boxes of belongings. I came across an interesting artifact from, I think, near the end of 1987. I had come home from work one day to find that my then-girlfriend (who had failed to join the workforce herself) had rendered the below on the phone-

This was a couple of months before the actual breakup. It ought to have been a warning, if I had been paying attention.
