Yeah, they're about sakura, and she's SO canon, but at the same time so likeable. and the other genins are really well explored. Reminds me why I like so many of the characters and not just sasuke, naruto and kakashi. Besides it has OMGPLOT, and world building and stuff. been a while so i can't comment more, but I remember I really liked it. and they're both complete ^__^

this fic is neji/kankurou, and it actually works somewhat O_o Okay, it has some plot, and the study of the settings (the Sand village) and the way the hierarchy with kankuro's family works alone deserve a read. It also acknowledges that it's crack by having them both aware that they never even talked to each other before; it's not a OMG IVE BEEN IN LOVE WITH HIM ALL ALONG fic, thank god.
As for Kankuro, never paid attention that closely to him, and he's not a central character in the manga (his brother always steals the show), but it does sound like him (also, he's funny. XD). Neji is SPOT-ON. He acts like a stuck-up, irritating prick, angsts in secret and thinks about what Naruto would do to better himself -- when he remembers that he actually wants to change. He's not made perfect by insisting on his tragic qualities (of which he has loads); the tragedy of his situation is understated, which makes it all the more effective.
Anyway, i started reading because I was bored as hell, and ended up finding a more than decent fic. I'm not a new fan of the pairing! XD but heh, it was very entertaining, and interesting, and i'm always a sucker for fics that explore the Sand village dynamics, so it made me happy.

I don't especially like Naruto/Gaara. I mean, I like them both, but with other people, or sometimes in gaara's case, alone, because he has to work on a lot of things about himself before he can fit in a relationship that wouldn't be twisted and destructive and stalkerish and -- but well. I actually loved this fic, because the way it's written, it WORKS.
I'm not gonna rant for hours; this is a good fic, well-written, with detailed background atmosphere on the sand village and it managed to make me believe in the pairing and EEEE gaara! i want to hug him now.
and these are fics that spoil for the end of the current anime arc, just in case any of you don't know yet what happens. :p (the first two also happen to be my ultimate favorites. go fig. :D i was too lazy to rewrite a OMGREADNOW thingie, so i copypasted the old pimpage. shame on me.)

OMG OMG OMG. no real pairings (wait, leesaku -ahhhcute ), lots of T7 interaction. XDDD i'm so in love with this fic it's not even funny -- wound up a half hour late to school because i was reading the last chapter, and we had a meeting about bad attendance records in our class XDDDDD
It's a well-written fic about Sasuke coming back to Konoha, with lots of great action scenes and angst and Naruto having trouble with the Kyuubi, and believable, canon-sounding reactions and politics, and the characterizations are great. And Sakura! Oh god, I'm so happy with the way Sakura is written. Kakashi is also great. Sasuke doesn't come back too quickly, or easily. There are issues, and they're all adressed in as realistic a way as possible all is not easy by far. This is a well thought-out fic, with lots of naruto/sasuke interaction, and I'm really enjoying it. And the little details -- the background OCs and Sasuke's summoned snakes *wibblewibble*
