The sound of waves lapping against the seashore and wind whispering through the trees is all that can be heard.
He is listening.

Do you have a need, a problem that cannot be solved? The desire for a sympathetic ear? Whether it be day or night, indoors or out, he will find you.

Thank you... For last night, I mean. I really appreciated it.

[She isn't really sure what she's doing here - when her most vivid memory of it was when she was nearly beaten to death and discarded in the sand. But she'd take that over everything that's happened recently in a heartbeat - even if nobody's being physically hurt (for the moment)]
[But it's not like she can't do that. Things are the way they are, and as always - she's useless. Just what has she done since getting here? What good is she, really? She hasn't helped anyone - hasn't made anyone's days any brighter - she can't do anything for Phoenix or for anyone, and because of her--]
[With nothing else to focus on or distract her, it's these kind of thoughts that are filling her head as she stares out into the water. It's raining, and she's got no umbrella, but she can't even feel it]

This day is no different.
It's why, at some point during her reverie, Maya may notice a cat sitting at her feet, dingy and brown thanks to the poor lighting and weather. His eyes are golden, though, a strange sort of intelligence in them if she cares to take notice. ]
((ooc: Hope you don't mind the kitty-ness; he may get larger later.))

[She's so lost in her own world that it takes her a few minutes to notice she's not alone. A cat was the last thing she expected to see, and even though she wasn't fond of them... But it does snap her out of it - even just a little bit]
A cat...?
[What is a cat doing here? Just sitting... at her feet? It must be some mistake, right? Maybe it thinks she can shield him from the rain somehow..?]
Ah... you should find shelter.

I think it's time for a walk.

Today, it's Crow's Head Beach, deserted and unwelcoming thanks to the coming winter chill. He stands alone, the waves lapping at his paws, as if contemplating the horizon.
Perhaps he was waiting. Perhaps it was chance. Either way, he turns when Lucifer approaches, the bite in the air lessening the closer he comes. His presence speaks of summer no matter what the time of year.
Considering the other for a moment, Aslan's falls in step with the fallen angel. He greets him with a question. ]
What would you ask?

I've been talking to Elaine. Mostly about her uncle, but it did leave me with questions about you.
[He glances at Aslan]
You are a Creator, aren't you?

[ Simply, without embellishment. For all his power, Aslan is decidedly lacking in any kind of conceit. ]

Not wrong- different.
His voice echoes quietly in the empty living room.]
What did you do?

His words are audible, though -- a whisper and no more, for no one's ears but His. ]
I healed him.

No. It can't be. It's impossible. Nobody could do that, nobody but-
but Him. But no, no, Aslan wouldn't do that to Him. That would be the worst kind of overstepping, no-]
What do you mean, you healed him? Where are you?

Quietly, he says: ]
I healed his vessel.
[ A beat. ]
The fire will no longer scar him.

But he stands, waiting for Aslan to come. He would ordinarily seek him out directly, but he has business to discuss this time, and so he takes the fastest route: oddly enough, right now that means waiting.]

The trees are bare, stripped of leaves save for the evergreens, but there is still a sort of vibrancy in the air and earth that even the winter chill could not strip away.
His approach is a quiet one, great velveted paws making no sound as he pads towards his visitor. He knows why he has come. ]

And yet....
When he turns to face Aslan he finds the same calm expression he had once seen on his father's face. But with Aslan it's different--Aslan isn't dear old Daddy. Aslan doesn't want him to suffer. Lucifer genuinely believes that; but he also knows that Aslan would never defy God over it. He doesn't love Lucifer that much.
But that's fine. He doesn't need to. Love, loyalty, those are not things Lucifer cares for much anymore anyway. Really.
He smiles slightly for the lion.]
I have a proposition for you.
