Cars.....are more expensive than I would like them to be. Took my car in for front brakes. I knew the situation was not good....but I apparently need front brakes, pads, rotors, new rear brakes and all that entails, new axles, and apparently belts. I feel at some level I am being taken for a ride on this. Extra stuff being need to be done....it's ( Read more... )

"In other news, I think I have decided to start working on the book I had been working on. It had started as a novel. It has morphed into a collection of poetry, prose, and haiku. I think I either want to release it with a few other authors (like each author have a chapter or section in the book for their work). Or have an artist or photographer do some work for it. Maybe both. I guess I'll have to see where things go."

This actually excites me a lot. I would love to buy a copy. :D

It's still a ways out, but I will certainly let you know. I will probably become disillusioned and put it on hold at least once more before it gets to a point where I am close to happy with it.

my car is a 1990 too and i am the original owner. she has been through a lot with me. she makes me pay though with repairs after repairs after repairs. but i am pretty sure i got it down to no repairs for awhile. except for the axles. need new axles, keep forgetting about that.
hate the automobile! it's helpful though.

i have been listening to 'goo' a lot. such a great album!!
are you moving out of the bowie phase into sonic youth? it will be better for you : )

They are both good and I am listening to both. I am, however, more in the Sonic Youth phase at the moment. This happens every two years or so I get really really into sonic youth again. This time around though I'm surprisingly into NYC Ghosts & Flowers. It's a really rad underrated album. I also recently ordered Lee Ranaldo's most recent book. Which is illustrated by Curt Kirkwood (of Meat Puppets semi-fame). I also recently found out that there is a music video for my favorite SY song (Shadow of a Doubt) and it's way better than a lot of their other early videos.

I have Corporate Ghost. It doesn't have Shadow of a Doubt though.

I looked at Drift. I may pick it up at some point.

That price is very good for all that considering my front brake pads alone were $250. I went to Midas only because they cover their brakes %100 which is good since the first brakes they gave me were whack and I needed to replace them 3 months later. I have heard people get quoted the same at other places too. I know nothing about cars but you need to get your rotors replaced when you've let your brakes go too far. The rotors is what can get expensive. I almost pushed mine to the brink but luckily they just needed resurfacing. I knew I was at that point because I could hear them go "clank clank". if you aren't hearing clank clank they might be BSing you. Tires and brakes usually last for about 40,000 miles. It's pretty standard stuff.

If you do decide to sell the car you will be able to get more money for it having all that taken care of.

this is 1 of my favorite videos of theirs. the video was inspired by the photographs of adam bartos, someone whose work i admire very much.
