Out of Character: Twin Oaks Nursing Care Facility

Jul 05, 2010 20:09

So. I’m wanting to set up a universe for Oliver based around his time in Twin Oaks Nursing Care Facility. This post is going to serve as the place where anyone who is interested in picking up someone in this facility can come and hash out ideas with others ( Read more... )

Honestly I can throw Caprice into this realm if you want, she likes playing with Oliver - she finds him fun to be around and considering she's been through near death and a car crash she can be a companion :) If you'd like let me know. I could use something to keep her busy.

I would love that. Feel free to have her join in! Oliver loves talking to her and it makes sense that she would have some reason or another to be there.

Hoshi would totally follow him to his new facility.

Good! He couldn't do without Hoshi. Both Hoshis, for that matter...

Lol well, both he'll get! Even if she has to commandeer a supply closet to shift.

I just made this guy for you. A male nurse that works at the facility. I'd love to brainstorm some too!

Ah, that's perfection. Great, I'm excited! Do you have anything specific in mind for him, or anything particularly you want to hash out right now?

I know that Arthur is sort of the picked on nurse of the bunch. He gets the lousy duties since he is one of the younger males on the staff and one of the only male nurses. He has a snarky side though and likes to make trouble for the doctors so he would definitely be one to contact if Oliver feels like rebelling. He also has a daughter.

I was going to ask for Arthur's daughter and his love interest on MMW do you mind if I put on the entry that we are looking for doctors and nurses and such? I could link them over here?

That all sounds great. And feel free to promote this out as well, I don't mind at all. A link or whatever would be fantastic. Do what you will with it, and let's see who else we can get involved, huh?

And Oliver is sure to like Arthur for that fact. Any troublemaker would automatically be a kindred spirit to him. He's generally so bored out of his mind that he just wants to find ways to shake things up a bit.

You don't mind if I toss stormy in here, do ya? XD She can be like a friend who drops by every once and awhile or something. :P

Of course I don't mind, that'd be absolutely great. Glad to have her on board! Oliver could always use another friend or something. ;)

Hello! This is stirsthewaters-mun, sort of late to the party, but definitely interested. Sooo I present Dolores Thorne, one of the members of the Twin Oaks cleaning staff. She has an unfair reputation as antisocial and not very bright, but she actually really does care for people and is sharper than people give her credit for.

I would love to brainstorm more about how she relates to Oliver and other facility staff!

(And of course, Azarias will still be dropping in, because playing with Oliver is total love. <3)

Oh, hello! And a big yay on both counts! Oliver loves talking with Azarias, even if I have been a bit flaky here lately. Lots of stuff going on in the dreaded "real life," but that's beside the point. I'm glad to have you on board with the both of them. That's exciting!

Well you know Oliver from his interactions with Azarias. If he's in the right kind of mood he could pretty much carry on a conversation with a tree stump. He's right there with Dolores in being rather lonely. So he'd try his best to get her talking, I'm sure. Now depending upon her reaction... I think that's the difficult thing. He's got that tendency towards self-doubt and if she gives some indication that he could take as meaning she doesn't care for him, who knows?

Hah, I know that "real life" thing all too well myself, so no worries -- I'm excited to be on board! \o/

Dolores is so used to people treating her like she's either invisible or too stupid to be worth talking to that I imagine she'd be initially startled, but receptive enough to Oliver's attempts at conversation that she'd do her best to respond in kind. She's out of practice with anything past short work-related conversations, and her dysphasia makes it hard for her to recall words and phrases when she's nervous, so she might initially struggle with holding up her end of the conversation, but I can see that getting better as she gets to know him. As you say, who knows?
