asLJ is not dead

The 0.6 series appears to have been downloaded over 1000 times, to 6 of the 7 continents. I know it's been nearly 11 months since 0.6.3-beta was released. In fact, 0.7.0-beta, which I just released, is almost unchanged from the development builds that went into testing over 6 months ago. I have not had the time to devote to working on asLJ of ( Read more... )

This is a pretty nice client that plays well with OSX 10.7 Lion! I think the only comment I have is I wish you could set a default "security" setting for the client. It always defaults to "public", whereas I'd prefer it be "Friends". Thanks for the effort!

Great to know that it works well on Lion. (I won't have a chance to try Lion myself for at least a few weeks.)

In terms of the security setting, I didn't implement it because you can set a default security level for your posts at the server. See the "Minimum Security for Future Entries" section on this page: http://www.livejournal.com/support/faqbrowse.bml?faqid=120 I generally set this to friends-only on my own accounts, so that even if asLJ is set to post publicly, the minimum security level makes the post friends-only unless I edit the entry to make it public.

Been using it on Lion since DL'ing it and I've not found any problems with it. Good client!

However, is there a way to change the editor window font and size? The default text is a bit too small on my laptop.

There isn't a way to do it... yet. (I think it's using some kind of system-wide default, so there might be some system preference that you could change that would affect it, but that would affect everything.) It's definitely possible to add a preference for changing the font face and font size, so I'll add it to the to-do list. You might want to follow aslj_dev on twitter, since that's where test builds with the preference will show up first, but I probably won't have time to do it this weekend.

It would be helpful if you could go into the Preferences and check "Verbose Console Logging," then try to post to a community again, then use the "Send Feedback..." item in the "asLJ" menu to send a report of the problem. WIth Verbose Console Logging, more information about exactly what interaction is taking place between asLJ and LiveJournal will be recorded, which should help me figure out where things are going wrong.

deleting the app and all its belongings (caches etc) via CleanApp and reinstalling seems to have fixed the problem! posting to community works fine in Lion now! Hooray!

I posted a new dev build to the protected twitter account aslj_dev-please let me know whether it fixes the problem for you and if there are any other issues with it.

Works well for me in Lion! But is there a way to turn off spellcheck?

I don't have Lion to check, but on Snow Leopard, if you're in the entry-body area and you go to the Edit menu, to the Spelling and Grammar submenu, there's a Check Spelling while Typing option that you can uncheck (the spelling/grammar stuff is more or less a feature of OS X itself and not something that I specifically added in, other than to enable it).
