Build .81480 layout naeko December 15 2010, 09:36:58 UTC
One thing before I go into the layout bits: Is it possible to make shift+tab go from the entry to the subject? I often type the subject, then tab to the entry, realize the subject is wrong and, out of habit, try to shift+tab back. It doesn't work, right now ( ... )

I don't know offhand, but I've had the exact same experience, so I'm really not sure why I haven't even put it on my to-do list until now.

my biggest peeve is that the tray (?) that slides out resizes with the window and I really hate that.

(technically, it's a "drawer") that really bugs me too, especially since I thought I'd fixed it a long, long time ago. it should be fixed (again?) soon.

Would be be possible to tack the format bar (bold, italics, link, lj-cut, etc buttons) onto the top of the tray, and then make the tray a separate window that can be moved or maybe even docked?

I think there were some technical issues that made this harder to do, but it ought to be doable. If the drawer kept its size properly, though, would this be as important?

As to the current design, it looks more... legitimate, I guess the word is. I like the ( ... )

I like the idea of having the option of using either the drawer or the floater.

I use ASLJ a lot at work, where the wireless is absolutely terrible. It's a crapshoot, basically, and causes crashes and lost entries more often than I'd like. I don't know if this is partially the application's fault, or if it's entirely the wireless, but I just wanted to make sure you're not looking for bugs that are just because I don't have access to better internet!

I'm willing to bet that unreliable internet connections are far more common than reliable ones. Underlying network issues are one of the bigger reasons for the heavy under-the-hood work in 0.7, and I'm hoping that it leads to fewer crashes and hopefully no lost entries, even with terrible wireless connectivity. (Whether the problems are caused by the network alone or the network and the application together, they ought to be fixable in the application...)

I'm not entirely sure if editing community posts from any client is supported--I haven't really tested it. Were you trying to edit your own post or someone else's? Are you a member, maintainer, or something else of the community?
