I was up all last night finishing a band arranging project. As a comp major I have to take commercial, band, choral, and orchestral arranging. The commercial class I took last semester was a complete waist of time... I learned nothing... and why would I want to write commerical music anyway? Yes... that's right.. If you have no other choice, random people in the street work fine. Just grab, stick your tongue in, and hopefully run away before they stab you in the eyeballs.

I take private lessons and arrange a major piece a semester. The lessons are to prepare for a senior rectal about 50 minutes worth of music.

I'm wanting to try the composition major. I haven't started on it yet because my advisors suck and I haven't had the chance to audition yet.

I'm up for a shit-ton of work, aren't I?

the main thing you should do is find out who is head of the comp dept. You should send them some of your work and possibly meet with them and tell them what kind of music you like or what you think you like. LOL...

Really for most people... the hard part is the theory... so just keep up on that and should be ok.
