Minor setback

So that’s that bad thing about having a Piccadilly in the basement as our cafeteria. It’s so convenient. I used to go almost daily for breakfast and lunch… because the food is yummy and because it’s so convenient. It’s also fattening and expensive…. You might find that snacks like sugary granola bars and rice krispie treats make you hungrier than you felt before you ate them. They have a lot of sugar, which is easily converted to glucose, which hits your blood very fast, your insulin surges to combat it and then your blood sugar drops lower than it was before you ate. (and you get hungry again)

I'll eat a bite or two of something very sweet after going running or if I find my blood sugar crashing, but in everyday life, they do more harm than good!

It sounds like your cereal might be doing the same thing to you. Make sure your cereal has over 10 grams of fiber and isn't "white". Cereals like special K, rice krispies, corn flakes, which bill themselves as "healthy" are just processed grains with no protein or fiber behind them. They're little better than eating 6 teaspoons of sugar for breakfast, that's how fast their sugars hit your blood!

Thank you.

I used to eat special K red berried but have now switched to multi-grain cheerios. I think it's a much better choice, but I will need to keep looking for healthy, affordable alternatives.

Try Kashi Go Lean, All Bran, or something hot like oatmeal. I eat hot All Bran because the cold stuff gets stuck in my throat. Hot cereals make me feel full for longer!
