What are your favorite ingrdients for trail mix? I figure they might be healthier if I make them.
So far I was thinking:
almonds
cashews
dried fruit (if I can find some without added sugar)
a few dark chocolate chips
pumpkin seeds
sunflower seeds
mulit-grain cheerios
I am not a fan at all of raisens!

Look out on calories for trail mix, it's very dense in calories (which is what you want when you are out hiking and there isn't room in your pack for much). 1/4 cup (a small handful) has over 200 calories, for reference. I love the stuff, but I don't eat it unless I'm hiking. =(
I like M&Ms because they're coated, dark chocolate is my favorite.
