300 = War in Iraq?

So I was thinking about spartans this morning while I was taking a shower... ahem. I had the thought that there are a lot of parallels between 300 and the war in Iraq.

After a threat/insult, a king makes a brash decision and defies the legal bodies that bind him and goes to war. They kill a shit ton of Persians, etc all in the name of preserving ( Read more... )

Very true, there are many similarities. Only, Bush has not teh abs!, and he saved Greece whereas we are pretty much just douchebags...

There is a conspiracy a-brewing to see Grindhouse this weekend--interested?

i would see the point, except for the movie is based off of three things: it's an almost word-for-word rendition of frank miller's comic, which was written in 1999; the film 300 Spartans, which was made in 1962, and the actual historical event (although that last is kinda loose).

being based on something, i.e. a modern war, and being similar to something, are often different things.
