300 = War in Iraq?

So I was thinking about spartans this morning while I was taking a shower... ahem. I had the thought that there are a lot of parallels between 300 and the war in Iraq.

After a threat/insult, a king makes a brash decision and defies the legal bodies that bind him and goes to war. They kill a shit ton of Persians, etc all in the name of preserving

Very true, there are many similarities. Only, Bush has not teh abs!, and he saved Greece whereas we are pretty much just douchebags...

i would see the point, except for the movie is based off of three things: it's an almost word-for-word rendition of frank miller's comic, which was written in 1999; the film 300 Spartans, which was made in 1962, and the actual historical event (although that last is kinda loose).

being based on something, i.e. a modern war, and being similar to something, are often different things.

i'm aware. i'm just saying that the iraq war doesn't have any particular bearing on the film. it's not a commentary.
