Well, not getting philosophical but i have realized what a gem of a guy i have as a manager. 
I really am not used to people standing up for me and this guy does it for me inspite of the fact that i have not been so easy on him. I am an exceptionally nasty person to manage....

The Reasons you gave for totally describe me....

not willing to work UNDER anybody. No problems in working with people.
This sentence has almost become synonymous to me. Actually I quoted this to all the managers I worked with :)
