Wilson left work early to buy a Christmas tree. He’d found a real beauty and was now struggling to get it inside the apartment. Two hours later, it was in its stand by the piano, resplendent with lights, tinsel and ornaments. A plate of fresh-baked cookies sat on the coffee table.
When House arrived home, he mocked Wilson mercilessly over being a Jew decorating for Christmas. He continued on that it was only for children and sissies who couldn’t handle reality. He then sat at the piano, munching a cookie, and began playing “The Little Drummer Boy.” Wilson just smiled.

It was Christmas Eve. Wilson was preparing to light the four candles when House came up behind him. He felt arms wrap around his waist and a chin rest on his right shoulder. Turning his head he asked, “Yes?” House just pointed to the Menorah.
Wilson chanted the prayers and lit the candles. When he finished, House said softly in his ear, “Happy Hanukkah, Wilson,” and kissed him on the cheek.
“Merry Christmas, House.” He turned in his partner’s arms and kissed him on the lips.

House set his devious plan in motion. He hung a sprig of mistletoe just inside his office door leading in from the conference room.
Waiting in the doorway, he’d paged Wilson for a consult. House watched Foreman, 13, Kutner, and Taub discuss their latest patient.
Wilson entered the conference room. “You paged me?”
“Yeah.” House waved him over, stepping a little further into his office.
“So what’s up?” Wilson stopped beneath the mistletoe.
“This.” House grabbed Wilson, pulled him close, and crushed their lips together, kissing him thoroughly.
Foreman and the fellows gawked wide-eyed with open mouths.
Wilson staggered backward as he stared at the self-satisfied grin on House’s face. “What the hell?”
His best friend simply pointed up. “I’ve been waiting all year to do that.” He turned and walked out the other office door.

Wilson sat down on the park bench next to his best friend. Large flakes were drifting down through the cold still air adding to the fluffy whiteness already blanketing everything. “What are you doing out here? Your leg....”
House continued to stare out at the lake. “I’m listening to the silence.”
Sitting quietly for a few minutes, Wilson finally said, “It is beautiful.”
The two companions leaned against each other, gazing out at the water, listening to the whisper of the falling snow.
