:( What scenes specifically did you dislike? I haven't seen the latest one yet but so far I didn't think it was so bad. The scene with Cersei coming to Bran's bedside was icky to me, but it may be necessary. The scene between Cersei and Joffery was, again, a little over the top, but I could see it from the building up of their characters perspective. I thought the scene in the throne room between Ned and Jaime was spot on. I can't think of any other large scenes that were added out of nowhere.
The difficulty in translating from text to film is that while in film you don't have to spend time describing the visuals, you also can't get into people's heads. Think about how much information is provided by characters remembering certain experiences, or just thinking to themselves. They have to get it said out loud somehow, which occasionally necessitates creating entirely new conversations.
While I do think that one added scene last night had a lot to do with "must show obligatory ta-tas" it did give more insight into what makes that character tick, as well as how ... mercurial ... his moods are. It could, however, have been about 2 minutes shorter and minus all gratuitous nudity
( ... )
An amazing book as deep as Game of Thrones will never be as satisfying on the big screen as it will be in one's imagination. Given the limits of television, though, I don't think anyone could realistically ask for a better adaptation than the one we are getting.
