In sickness and in health...

...till death do us part...as long as we both shall live.

Those well-known words seem vague and fuzzy-far-in-the-future when they are repeated off-hand by a young couple, giddy with happiness, and ready to set sail into the sunset of "happily ever after."

Hugs. That is so hard. Please keep us updated on them. It's hard, but honest about the whole not really thinking He will. But you never know what God will do. He changed His mind about the King in the OT, and reversed the shadows on the steps as a sign. He can do anything, and I guess we just learn as we go...to try to see past what's in our faces and see what's in God's heart. It's so, so hard.

They (and you) are in my prayers.

Thank you so much for the hugs and prayers. You're right - it comes down to trusting God's goodness and wisdom and love in it all. He does do what is best, even though we often cannot understand it at all.

I'll keep you updated.

"When one member suffers, the whole Body feels the pain and weeps with them. :("
Yes, this is so very true. And I feel your pain and their pain and just simply knowing the pain that cancer brings is terrible.
I will pray for the strength they need and may they always know how near the Lord is, feel His love throughout this difficult journey.

I am praying for your friends, Abigail!! I have been remembering them since your post the other day. Keep praying for the Lord's will to be done... as I have heard it said, that is the prayer that never fails.

Life is something only He holds in the balance. I really thought we were going to lose Christie earlier this year -- and she thought so, too. Every day I expected to hear the news. Yet the Lord has given her these months more and she and Jim have continued to be such an amazing testimony. She continues to go up and down as far as strength goes but the Lord allows her the ability to touch lives still. I'm sure that as long as Verne and Linda both have breath they will continue to do the same... and may it be for a long time yet to come!!

Thank you, Erin...I know you well understand what it is like to walk through such a time with friends. It's so encouraging to hear how God is continuing to strengthen and sustain Christie and Jim - PTL!! These testimonies of His faithfulness are surely one of the good things He brings from such difficult trials.
