Misc. update and wedding links

It's been quite a week. Susanna and I went up to WI on Sept. 1 for Jana Baldridge's wedding, and had a grand time with the 20+ friends from all over the US who had gathered for the week. Many of them I hadn't seen since 2003, and several I'd never met before. It was a very special thing to be able to catch up with them and see what God is doing in ( Read more... )

Oh man, I'm so sorry to hear about your wedding party drama! :-( I'll be praying it works out smoothly.

It was so wonderful to see you again... and I am greatly anticipating our next visit only 4 weeks from now! :-)

Thanks for the prayers! Joe's sister abruptly said she didn't want to be in the wedding party (no reason given), and then the ring bearer won't be able to make it because their family can't afford to come (the dad has been unemployed since January). I think Ami will be able to step in as a bridesmaid, and we have some leads on another ring bearer...God will provide. :)

I'm so glad we got to see each other this weekend, too, though it seemed like we didn't really get any quality time together...so many people around, and both you and I had quite a few other things we had to be doing. Can't wait to see you again in 4 weeks (wow!). :D

That doesn't sound like fun stuff on having people back out at the last minute. :-\ Thank goodness we had such an accommodating wedding part. ;-) But regardless of how you get it all worked out, you do get to be married in the end, and of course that's what counts. :-D

I'm looking forward to see what you do with Joe's apartment - that should be fun. I hate decorating personally, but seeing what other people do in that regard is always very enjoyable. And I'm sure it will be beautiful!

Yeah...seems like we've had our share of people backing out on us. :P Guess that's all just part of it, though. And you're quite right that in the end most of these details don't matter half as much as they seem to right now. Need to keep reminding myself of that...

I'm eager to see how the apartment turns out, too! We're talking about a royal/elegant/medieval sort of theme for the master bedroom, sunflowers in the kitchen, monkeys in the bathroom (because Target has the *cutest* bathroom monkey set, lol), and a sort of country/homespun look for the livingroom and spare bedroom/library. Trying to make it look nice and tie together without spending much is going to be a very fun challenge. :D

I am always really amazed at how people manage to decorate beautifully on a budget. It definitely requires some serious creativity. Our house looks like we didn't ever allocate a budget for decorating. ;-) Though in reality one of the things we have on our wall is a framed puzzle from our first year of marriage...and the framing of it was over $200, I think. :-P I imagine some people could take the same amount of money and do quite a lot with that. And I'm fairly certain that it was more than all the furniture we've bought combined. :-P

I meant wedding party, not part. :-P And meant it (obviously, I hope) as a compliment/expression of appreciation to all those involved. Ha.

Especially since actually meeting you, I really wish I could be there for your wedding! I'm really looking forward to hearing all about it and seeing pictures. :)

The more I read about your relationship, Joe's background, your story, etc. the more connected I feel to you two. There are just so many resemblances to Josiah and I, our families, our relationship, etc. It makes me feel especially close to you.

Awww, I wish you could be here for the wedding, too - but I quite understand. I'm really hoping to be able to post the video for those of you who can't be here, and I know lots of pictures will be posted, too. :)

It really is neat to see how much my relationship with Joe and yours with Josiah has in common. I appreciated our conversations about it - it encouraged me that it is more than possible to work through the various differences in background and find a happy mixture for our new little family. I appreciate the good example that you and Josiah set, and I pray that Joe and I will be just as strong in our marriage as you two are after 5 years. :)

BTW, how did your trip home go? Hope it all went well!

Thanks so much for rejoicing with me/us! I sure wish you girls didn't live so far away - makes it a lot harder to travel. But hopefully we will actually be able to meet at some point!

I'll be sure to let you all know if we're able to get the video streaming figured out. I'm really hoping we can because there are quite a few people like you who are hoping to be able to "attend" that way. :)

Oh, nice! Minneapolis is only about 1-1.5 hrs from Rochester. So if you ever do get out to visit them, we'll definitely have to work it out to get together. :D Joe and I both want to have as much company as we can muster up. ;)

You've done a wonderful job on your wedding website -- I really enjoyed reading the background of your friendship, courtship, and engagement. I have peeked in on your life for so long now that I am truly excited to see what happens in the next phase of your journey.

Thanks! Joe and I had a lot of fun working on the website and reliving memories as we wrote out our story. I'm really blessed that he wants to be involved in everything like that - and he's such a good writer, too. :)

I'm also quite excited to see what God has in store for the next season of life. Thanks for rejoicing with me! :)
