thank you for your review! i too would have skipped over this book owing to the title, when in actuality it seems to be a book from which i could benefit.
Working in a techie field, I have spent much more time with men than women my whole career (and college) life. You learn a few things through experience. One thing that I have found a little heart-breaking is how many Christian wives don't understand that they are often expecting their husbands to be like women! They feel let down and fail to appreciate the masculine things that their husband contributes to the relationship. I'm all for a book that can scripturally clarify that.
Yes! What you're saying echos the message of the book. Paula shares how we women need to realize that men have something different to offer than we have - that we NEED them simply because they are men and have a unique perspective. It's so easy to fall into the wrong mindset and be critical of everything a guy does, simply because he's not acting like a female. Duh! :)
Hummm...Well, the author is a married woman, and naturally as I was reading it I was thinking primarily of my relationship with Joe. But the author does very carefully make sure to keep reminding the reader that the principles apply (with appropriate variations) to ALL relationships between men and women. I know I would have enjoyed and benefitted from the book as a single, so yes, I do recommend it to all women, young and old. :)
