Its experiential. Listen to how people communicate.
Ask yourself.

;)
i'm asking you though, not myself.
more interesed in yr opion than in my own.

...but ok, i'll play.
not all communication is verbal. in fact, most really isn't.
i still think the opinion think applies sort of but maybe it changes to "communication is about testing and reinforcing and/or reinventing yr history."
you could also maybe say "ground" instead of "history".

you ever study game theory and/or play theory?
there is this book Rules of Play you might dig.
that's imho tho.

ah, & to elaborate on the first two sentences:
99% of communication is about it's self, the experience of communicating.
the tree or record or philosophy yr talking about is just the erotic third in the dialog.
the peice on the board between the communicants.

And so much more...

but that's just my opinion.

Maybe I'd say "communication starts with having an opinion."

of course. everything we say is subjective to one degree or another. we are, in essence, the sum total of our experiences, they shape who we are, how we relate, how we assimilate information. everything we learn passes through a filter of who we are, and everything we say (or do) is going to be affected by that.
