Hmm. For my first viewing of The Return of the King, I was in a shock for so long afterwards, I couldn't say anything, coherent or not. So now I think I'll do some of it. ROTK was awesome, so much more than I had hoped for. The actors did an unbelievable job and I was amazed the whole time. I don't have much time, so I can't really ramble right now, but I don't think I cried as hard the second time as I did the first. The one part that really gets me is when Frodo is leaving and Merry starts to bawl. Right there, I can never hold in my tears. There were other parts I loved though, like the entire sequence of the beacons lighting is one of the coolest things I've ever seen. Then whenever Merry and Pippin came on the screen my heart was torn left and right. And on the slopes of Mount Doom, Sam and his infamous line and the way he picked up Frodo. If my fandom may interrupt here, I am horribly jealous of Sean Astin.
There were a few mistakes I noticed, and I was going to talk about them, but I've thought better of it. I love Peter so much and in no way was I trying to bring him down by talking about them, I had just wanted to see if they were also spotted by others. Right now is not the time though.
Ah. Favorite line? "I can't carry it, but I can carry you." Ouch, be still my searing heart. My least favorite line? One of Legolas'. Honestly, in this movie, he makes you want to slap him-in my opinion. Maybe, "The way is shut." It just bothered me. Legolas just irked me in this one.
One final thing is that I'm never going to see this again with my mother. She didn't watch half the movie because she was under her chair. Then in the car she told me she didn't like this one as much as the first two. Eh. It wasnt like she understood it anyways. In the car-ride down to the theater, I was asking her if she understood the basic plot line and all. As we pulled into Target parking lot to buy shirts to decorate for the show, she asked me if "Arowyn, the fairy princess can fly." I nearly killed her right then. Uh. Anyways. Katie and Krista were holding our spots in line, second place behind a timid looking man. We busted out the shirts and the Sharpies and had quite a laugh discussing if we should label mom's shirt with "I have no idea what I'm doing here, but I came to see Arowyn fly." Mmm. Yes. Katie and Krista had brought one of our Frodo action figures too. Then a woman came to the man in front of us and sat down, whipped out a deck of magic cards and exclaimed to her friend that they were the biggest geeks there. Then the man pointed at me, draped in her shirt that said "Frodo LIVES." on the back and "MORDOR OR BUST." on the front, The One Right hanging from a chain on her neck, and Frodo sitting pompously on my knee. Ehe. Other things ensued while we were waiting to get in the theater. We made a flash card for my mother with Sauron on it, and on the back labeled it, "TEH GREAT EYE." Ehe. And drew miniature Frodo, Sam and Gollum. Rock. Krista got the slogan for the front of her shirt, (the back was "Frodo LIVES.") when I drew a horrendous picture of the ring, and told them "My ring rocks." After a moment's hesitation, Katie blurted out, "Yea, well my ring wraiths." That of course, had to go on the shirt. Katie then decorated her shirt with PIPPIN in a heart and "My pint-sized hero." Then we wrote "MERRY" and "PIPPIN" on mine and Krista's sleeves. Ehe. They rocked. I'll post some picture's later. I'm already late for basketball practice. Just my luck.
