At first I didn't even see the person on the left and thought that the ad could be taken as a racist remark in the wording. But now that I see that there are 2 people, I can see it 100% and am surprised that Sony got away with creating the idea, let alone having many people agree with it, AND having it on a billboard.

People are dumb.

Have you seen the sony commercials on TV for PSP? They're all borderline racist. The squirrels talk like sterotypic black people and the dustmites speak as if they're supposed to be poorly portrayed mexicans.

and of course the VGcats comic detailing it

Sorry for lack of proper links, my knowledge of basic HTML has faded.

Anyway it does not surprise me they would do this, I'm not sure if it has anything to do with race really, they may just have thought it was a cool contrast in Colour, but yeah hard to contrue it any other way. Same with these commercials.

(I'm not sure how squirrels speaking some street slang could be considered 'borderline racist')

I wasn't saying it is, I am however saying it's possible to interpret that way. Much like that poster board.

It's brilliant marketing, though. Instead of just having their ads on a few billboards in Holland, they have them in many news sources all over the world.

Not saying it is right or good, just that it worked, and there was no way that the controversy was unintentional.
