What music is in your head?

Dec 10, 2006 16:08

I'm curious.
I typically have something by Tchaikovsky constantly playing in my head when not listening to other music.
It's clear as a bell, but internal audio. I never hallucinate, I just can run through it at any point.
Do you ever have songs playing in your head?
How clearly?
How often?
What are they?

No music here. If music were to play in my head all the time, I would have killed myself.

It's never been distracting or distressing to me, except during a few months when I had insomnia. I couldn't shut the music off then, and that was maddening.

Yes! And it can be whatever I was listening to last, or whatever song's been stuck in my head a lot recently, or a random song triggered by some random word I read.

Music in my head quite often, especially when in noisy places or when I'm upset. Often jazz, although also often songs I've heard (though not necessarily recently- still have some Teddy Ruxpin songs that occassionally appear that I haven't heard in 20 years).
I wish I could sing/hum them as well as they sound in my head...

I love music, it's actually quite rare for me not to have music playing (except where I can't, like if I'm in someone's car up here and they don't have a cd player, because car radio reception can be fairly unreliable), when I don't actually have music playing by machine, I usually have in my head, it tends to be the same as my current most played choices, usually either Keith Urban or Slim Dusty over the last few years. Sometimes thinking about specific people will trigger a particular song that reminds me of them, otherwise it's likely to be whatever I think of at the time, certain moods have songs attached to them, and if I'm really down or stressed I can usually get out of those rather undesirable states by playing particular songs that either calm me down or cheer me up.
Nice to know I'm not the only music addict here!
