I am finding myself wondering at some of the laws we have today.  Particularly the law that says that a person under the age of 17 can't consent to sexual relations.  Now, I am not saying that I don't support it because I believe in upholding the laws whatever they are (within reason, of course).  But I have been thinking about this and realizing ( Read more... )

I can see where you're coming from. But I think that it would be a bad idea in todays world. Not because teenagers can't figure out if it's time for them to have sex or if they want to marry. They make that choice regardless of any law in place. But more for the reason they have no way of supporting a family. They would lack education/training in order to make a living or take care of any of the bills that show up once one gets out in the world. In years past one was taught how to work the farms, or even the businesses of their parents. They had been around it their entire lives, so they had some training by proxy ( ... )

I can definitely see that. And I agree with you on all counts. I just find it interesting how much our perceptions of what is good and right and acceptable have changed over the years.
