A couple of weeks ago someone in my ward came to me and asked me if I would be willing to give chiropractic care a try if the intakes and some of the visits were covered. I'm really feeling that my kids are evil today. It took an entire hour to do Ayanna's 20 minutes or so of practicing and it took 30 minutes to do Leland's 10 minutes. On autistics and empathy ... and death and grief
It's amazing how many people honestly feel that autistics aren't capable of feeling empathy. I guess it goes along with the fact that we DO, in fact, have an enormous amount of trouble passing the NT world's tests designed to prove that a person has "Theory of Mind". I officially love the computer and internet technologies we have today. I love the fact that two people from different sides of the planet can get to know each other without leaving their front rooms. I have Skype on my computer and have used it more than once to talk with family. Wonderful program ...

This past week a snapshot study was released claiming to debunk the idea that 80% of marriages among couples of autistic children end in divorce. The study concluded that among the people surveyed, the divorce rate was no higher than among the general population. Some people I know are disagreeing with it. I've been thinking lately on the changes in my life in the past few years. New experiences, new people, new perspectives. For one thing, growing up in Utah meant that most of the people I knew were members of my Church. At least as far as I knew.
