OOC WIP : HISTORY
Long ago there was a war between the two forces fighting over the use of a wish-granting machine called Genesis, the Latio and the Census. The side of Census followed their king Asras who wanted to reunite the heavens and the Earth, and in the long battle he eventually came to the Genesis to activate it, however the Genesis required the sacrifice of a loved one and for both people to want the same thing. Asras lover Inana however didn’t want the reunification of Heaven and Earth, so though the world was reset in a similar way Asras had wanted, it didn’t work completely.
In the story line of Tales of Innocence, people that die are reincarnated. These reincarnated people that have powers are labeled as inousha, but the people that know they are reincarnated call themselves tenseisha.
When Asras and Inana killed each other in the use of Genesis there were two people that were reincarnated normally, and one being which manifested into mix of Asras confusion and desperation. Asras true reincarnation into a tenseisha was Ruca Milda and Inana’s was Iria Animi.
Ruca was born as the son of a Merchant in the imperial city of Regnum, in the beginning of the story he woke up from a dream that showed the fight between Asras and Hypnos. He headed to school as per usual, dazed out while thinking about the dream, and ran into Iria and her…pet(?) Coda. And when I say he ran into Iria he kinda’ tripped over her to be more exact. Iria was tired from escaping the group collecting the inousha around and hadn’t eaten so Ruca helped her out and gave her some. While they were hanging out, they spotted a group of inousha being towed away. Eventually the group of soldiers came to confront Ruca and Iria, noticing Iria’s strange shadow, the label of an inousha. Ruca and Iria escaped into an alleyway but were confronted by the soldiers. When Iria was hurt, Ruca’s own shadow took the form of Asras and he stole a soldier’s sword, taking down the group that had trapped them in a trance.
Despite his efforts they were both still captured after Ruca passed out. They were taken to a holding facility with all the other inousha, when Ruca came too it was pretty obvious he was confused about the whole event. Eventually Spada’s group rescues the two and the other inousha and Iria and Ruca follow Spada to pick up their weapons. Ruca being the dork and attempted over achiever chooses a sword that looks far too big for him. When a mech comes plowing through the wall, Ruca is pushed out of the way because he can’t fight, however once Iria become in danger, a hidden strength awakens in Ruca and he nearly destroys one of the robots arms. The gun barrel faces him down and Spada saves him, destroying the robot’s arm and Iria finishes it off, using Ruca’s little distraction.
Unfortunately, after the battle they are faced by Matthias, the man whose group had attacked Iria’s village. Matthias reveals to Ruca, Spada, and Iria their true identities as the reincarnations of Asras, Durandal the holy sword, and Inana; the tenseisha of the people at the center of the kingdom of Census. Spada’s gang’s main force and the other inousha call out the three while they argue with the man, taking advantage of their presence Matthias attacks the large group with an Explosion spell, killing all the innocent citizens and fatally wounding the gang members of them. The tragedy awakens memories of the three’s past lives. Matthias after paralyzing Spada was attempting to take the three away, however he was stopped and confronted by the Regnum army and Oswald, the leader who had taken all the people captive. Taking advantage of the argument, Spada’s younger gang members appeared to take the three away. Those members distracted the army while Ruca, Spada and Iria got away, and after those three did escape they committed a suicide bombing, destroying the facility and taking most of Matthias and Oswald’s forces with them.
After the escape, for what they considered to be Ruca’s safety, Spada and Iria left Ruca out with the escape vehicle by himself. After leaving Ruca was confronted by Latio reincarnated soldiers that recognized his shadow. Still not brave enough to confront something by himself, a bounty hunter tenseisha Ricardo appeared and killed the Latio attackers. Ricardo didn’t intend to save Ruca so much as retrieve something those soldiers had stolen from the army, which he was hired to retrieve. Ruca was wary of him though as he was the reincarnation of Hypnos.
Giving Ruca a pep talk and explained the history behind Asras motives with the Genesis, and why Hypnos had actually fought him before. Ricardo left him to himself and returned about his own business. Newly motivated to stop Matthias, Ruca followed after Spada and Iria to help them fight.
The trio goes about traveling to find and stop the forces involving Matthias and Oswald. While doing so they come to a city to get food, and find Regnum soldiers are taking away a tenseisha, Ange. They rescued her but she had actually let herself be captured to save a group of children. It was much like her past life, Orifiel the strategist, which had surrendered to Asras to protect the civilians. Ange took them to the village of Naohs, though they didn’t get a warm welcome from the civilians. Ange had used her powers to destroy the church and be taken away so that the tenseisha children would be safe. The Regnum soldiers return looking for Ange, destroying various parts of the town. Ange, Ruca, Spada, and Iria come out to attack the commanding officer of the assault, only to be over powered by him as a tenseisha. Eventually the children come out and with their combined power and Ange’s they defeat the Regnum soldiers. Those soldiers defeated Ange and the town goes to rebuilding, while Ruca, Spada, and Iria leave the scene to head for Ashihara, the next town with a possible clue on the Genesis.
A long boat ride later, the trio arrived in Ashihara. Not long into the search Ruca is confronted by a girl that served under Matthias, and in her previous life was a woman in love with Asras. She informs Ruca to head for the King’s Tomb, and he passes this information to Spada and Iria. They seem skeptical until confronted with a young girl, Hermana, who explains the deal of the King’s Tomb and lead the group to it, also getting them past the guards. Inside are murals and Hermana explains the back-story of the gods and heaven the ancestors of Asras and Inana, how the god of creation created them. Further into the tomb, Hermana shows them the Memory Space, which lets them see the history and memories of heaven, and their past lives. Gaining these memories, Thitose, the girl from before confronts them and asks for Ruca’s help. Of course that kind of thing doesn’t go out well.
Thitose tempts the three of them, failing horribly, until she taunts Iria and calls her out as Inana the Traitor. She says that Inana didn’t want the same as Asras did and destroyed heaven. Iria is overcome by her confusion and her rage is released, she starts a fight with Thitose, which is stopped by Ruca, blocking their attacks between each other. Ruca protected Iria, because despite whether what Inana did was real or not, he still believed in Iria the person standing there, and believed his trust would over come whatever Inana would try.
Seeing Thitose failure, Matthias magically projects himself like a hologram to confront the group. He reveals Hermana’s identity as Vritra, Asras dragonic advisor and steed. Hermana actually sought out the group, as being driven by Vritra, Matthias stating it is truly fate. At this same time, Matthias revealed he too was a tenseisha, but not only that but the reincarnation of the Demon King Maou, and that he planned to commit genocide with the Genesis. After leaving the tomb, Hermana tells the group to where the Genesis is, in the Sky Castle. However, Hermana backs down, as she doesn’t want to personally get involved in the fight.
They go out to wait for the boat to take them from Ashihara, for quite a while. However, as the ship is about to arrive Oswald shows up in a plane (looked more like a rocket propelled zeppelin) with Hasta, another tenseisha, to capture the group. They first planned to just fight but Oswald had taken Ange hostage, they were dissuaded slightly but they decided to make a play to save her, it didn’t work out well though, for the fact Ricardo was under Oswald’s service. The distraction played, Oswald shoots Ange in the arm and retakes her as a hostage. He demands the information on Genesis, which Hermana goes about to tell him for everyone’s sake. The others are taken hostage, under the ploy of remembering how to activate the Genesis, while Hermana directs them to the Sky Castle. While under capture, Ange reveals she knows how to activate the Genesis, for the fact she was Orifiel in her past life.
After finding the Sky Castle, Oswald threatens to kill Hermana but is stopped by the turbulence of the plane and they crashed into the Sky Castle, by Ricardo’s own manipulation to stop Oswald from killing Hermana. Everyone escaped perfectly well, however they were separated and Spada had to face with Hasta, while Ricardo faced Oswald in an Inousha powered Gigantes (mech), the Inousha being the reincarnation of Hypnos brother. Ruca, Iria, and Ange found Hermana while Spada fought with Hasta, which was the demonic spear Gae Bolg, made by the same person that had forged Durandal, Spada’s past life.
Making a wreck of the place while trying to kill Spada, Gae Bolg drew the attention of the wandering group, Ruca stopping Gae Bolg from nearly skewering Spada and returning his ally’s swords to him. The newly reunited party fights it out with Gae Bolg, Ruca about the strike the finishing blow however, stops midswing because Coda was in the way. Gae Bolg smashed him and nearly took out Ruca, however Spada got in the way and as Gae Bolg thrusted he hit dead on with Spada’s sword and split in half, dieing the same way he did in the past to Asras wielding Durandal. Once Gae Bolg was defeated however, Ricardo and the Gigantes fighting come towards the group, Ruca finding himself that he needs to help Ricardo as he helped him before attacks Oswald on his own, doing more impressively than anyone thought. The Gigantes is overrun by the tenseisha energy, killing Oswald in the cockpit, to keep it from rampaging, Ruca confronts and calms it before the Gigantes explodes and the energy of the tenseisha passes on.
The group took the time to rest before confronting the Genesis, in the night Thitose appears to try and bring Ruca with her and activate the Genesis before Matthias can. Ruca however told her it was pointless, that he didn’t trust her, and Thitose to telport away in tears. Ruca warns the others and they head to the room with Genesis to confront Matthias, who stood before the left over stone corpses of Inana, Durandal, and Asras. The group is heavily confused before Matthias shows them the memories of Inana stabbing Asras with Durandal, and then Asras returning that favor, thus causing the fall of heaven and the malfunction of Genesis. Also in this memory it is revealed that Matthias is not Maou but that Maou was actually Asras in disguise. After that Matthias reveals his true identity, as the ther half of Asras, with the body of Inana. Matthias taunts Ruca and says he is the confusion of Asras at Inana’s betrayal. In mock pity, Matthias states that he will destroy everyone to make his sadness disappear with the use of Genesis.
Matthias leaves for the Genesis with Thitose while Ruca, Iria, and Spada are caught up in the shock of the memories. Ricardo tells Hermana and Ange to leave them as they are and they attempt to stop Matthias, only to be blasted with an Explosion spell. Seeing their friends attack snaps the three out of shock and Ruca stands before them all to stop them, trying to shoulder the whole responsibility of stopping Matthias for what happened. All of them reject his order and instead choose to fight on with him. The group confronts Matthias as he had failed to activate Genesis due to Thitose not loving this Asras that was Matthias. Thitose was instead stabbed and then died in Ruca’s arms, as she explained why it didn’t work.
In rage and confusion, Matthias awakens and turns into a horrible chimera like beast that is a combination of Asras and Inana, and also he pulls the form of Durandal out of his body. The power of it was so tremendous that if he would get to Earth, it would destroy it without the Genesis. Ruca tries to attack but is instead cut down by Durandal and falls for some part of the battle. Ruca stands back up and confronts Matthias, taunting him and is then stabbed with Durandal, activating the Genesis. This was how the Genesis worked, you had to activate it with the person you devote yourself too trust, as a side that acted as if it’s your other half. Those two were the halves of each other and Ruca understood where Matthias didn’t, that Matthias was the real confusion of Asras, and not Ruca. As Matthias starts to lose power, Iria takes Ruca’s hand and pulls him from the falling debris as the Sky Castle explodes in Genesis activation, this explosion caused by two conflicting wishes just like before. Ruca passes out and later awakens to find himself with the others on the ground. Matthias is thought by Ruca to have returned to Asras and that he was now whole. So the three continued on in that world, happily ever after.
