Forever, but not quite enough

So I got this email a few days ago, from livejournal. It was telling me that I had a reply to a post that I did a long, long time ago. In it was a few words of "wisdom" from someone who hasn't spoken to me in months. Why would someone talk to me now, after months of silence, and tell me how to live my life? Perhaps that person is feeling guilty

I know that some of the things that have been said have hurt a lot of people, but I don't know what I have done to hurt everyone. It doesn't even matter what you did, I don't care. It was more about how you handled yourself, and carried yourself. You might think that everyone gave up on you, but I can tell you that almost no one did. We still want the best for you. When a friendship isn't helping your life, it's just hurting you. And that's not a good thing for anyone involved. We broke our friendship for that reason. You lied to us. You deceived us. You held back when you said you were honest. So it's really up to you. If you want to fall into a trap of lying to people, you can. If you sincerely want to have meaningful friendships, then do that. If you want my friendship, it will definitely take more time. I do care, but I am not going to lay myself down for you again. Hey Patrick. I know it's been about a year since I've talked to you. I just wanted to tell you that I don't expect you to except this, but I'm sorry for how I acted when we were friends, and for everything I did back then. I'm also sorry for getting mad at you when I had no right to do so. I ruined a lot of good friendships, and I messed up a big part of my life as well. I do want to also thank you though. You were always there for me, even when legally you shouldn't have been. So you don't have to except this apology. I just wanted to say I'm very sorry and I hope that bringing this up doesn't cause you any anger or frustration.
