The diameter of that spider was 5.5" And very real!!!
The are not poisonious from what I had read up on them. However, like anything else, if you have an immuno-compromised system you may have a reaction.

Some spiders get that big.
The biggest spiders around here are
Golden Silk Orb Weavers.
I've had one fall on me when canoeing. Harmless, but not exactly something you want falling on your head.
