CHARACTER NAME;; Takeshi Yamamoto
CHARACTER JOURNAL;;
assassinmvpCHARACTER AGE;; 15
FANDOM;; Katekyo Hitman Reborn!
TIMELINE;; After Kaoru attacks him and he's hospitalized (Chapter 294)
PHYSICAL APPEARANCE;;
PIKCHUR Yamamoto is fifteen and a bit on the lanky side. He has short, wild black hair and brown eyes; he's the "stereotypical Japanese character" so he looks very much the part save that fact that he's 5'8" and towers over even his senpai. He's in excellent shape since he's the active sort of person that just runs around like a lunatic and eats well, and will probably keep growing until he breaks 6', the freak.
One can assume that he's attractive since he has a lot of female fans, but Amano makes just about every single boy she draws pretty so he's probably not GORGEOUS or anything.
ABILITIES;;
Shigure Souen Style-Yamamoto has been taught a specific style of kendo by his father, one that is passed down through generations. The style has eight forms and Yamamoto has added three of his own as well as performed an "aggregate" art, or a combination of all the forms. The forms are as follows:
OFFENSIVE
(1st)Shajiku no Ame
(3rd)Yarazu no Ame
(5th)Samidare
(8th)Shinotsuku Ame
(9th)Utsushi Ame
(10th)Scontro di Rondine
(11th)Beccata di Rondine
DEFENSIVE
(2nd)Sakamaku Ame
(4th)Gofuu Juuu
(6th)Unknown, but presumed defensive to fit the numbers
(7th)Shibuki Ame
This video has a lot of Yamamoto's forms in a really freaking killer art style; it also is a good example of how a fight with Yamamoto would progress.
-He also possesses the flame attribute of Rain, which has an added quality of Tranquility. Using his box weapons he can create a defensive wall of water or call upon one of his box animals, a swallow named Kojirou who can attack opponents or spread a calming rain that slows opponents down and/or diffuses their own Dying Will flames.
-Kojirou can also combine with the Shingure Kintoki -the sword specifically for the Shigure Souen style- and make a more powerful weapon. Yamamoto's other box animal is an Akita Inu named Jirou who holds his three short swords, which are really just sword hilts Yamamoto uses as bases to form blades out of Dying Will flames. He can use the swords to propel himself around as well by increasing the strength of the flames emitted.
STRENGTH/WEAKNESS;;
Yamamoto has a knack for being so obliviously airheaded that all insults seem to roll right off of him like water off a duck's back. This is both a strength and a weakness, because it makes him more tolerant of people who would otherwise provoke him into a fight but it also makes him come off as really, really stupid and kind of a pushover.
As for physical strengths and weaknesses, Yamamoto has incredible reflexes and is very, very fit. Still, at the same time, he's just a human being and running headfirst into a wall really freaking hurts as much as it would for anyone else.
PERSONALITY;;
Yamamoto is so mellow and chillax that people could think he was dropped on his head as a child. Because he has a tendency to not sweat the small stuff -and what constitutes as "small" for Yamamoto won't necessarily be the same for other people- he comes off as airheaded, stupid and more than a little out of it. He tends to miss what makes something a "big deal" and treats a lot of what he experiences as a sort of game, determined to enjoy himself and writing off the danger of a situation with "hey, it's just a game, right?"
This sense of calm really does come in handy, though. When other people are thrown into life-and-death situations, naturally they panic. Yamamoto manages to keep a cool head even in his very first sword battle, despite his opponent being hellbent on murdering him on the spot. It's pointed out that this is a characteristic of both a remarkable idiot and a natural assassin, and Yamamoto is certainly both.
He's a very friendly person, but not without a sense of humor and not to the point where he won't poke fun at somebody. His idea of what's funny differs greatly from the average person; he'll laugh at things that just are not funny, but never does it with malicious intent. He's just...well, an airhead.
Still, despite being an incurable moron Yamamoto has an intense sort of focus. Once he sets his sights on something he gets tunnel vision and makes like an arrow for it, straight to the target. He's the type of person who could be good at just about anything, if he put in the effort, but he only seems to want to be good at baseball and kendo, so that's what he's good at.
Underneath all of that is a boy who wants to be successful. You can't be that good at something without taking pride in your abilities, and when something hampers that Yamamoto kind of stalls and needs a good talking to or even a beatdown. On several occasions his father, Tsuna, even Squalo have had to snap him out of his little funks. It's not a common occurrence, but it does happen now and then and Yamamoto's lucky he's got people to understand him.
HISTORY;;
Yamamoto, up until he met Tsuna, had a very normal life. He's the only child of Tsuyoshi Yamamoto (the whereabouts/status of his mother are unknown), who runs a sushi bar called Takezushi that he and his son live above. Tsuyoshi was very big on traditional Japanese dishes and practices, but is a very attentive and almost doting father, so Yamamoto grew up with a lot of love and care. He got into baseball at a very young age and dedicated his life to it from there on. By the time he's in middle school he's well-known for being the baseball team's ace, and he practices long and hard to be good enough to stay as a regular.
Yamamoto had been in classes with Tsuna, but because Tsuna was so shy and a loser and Yamamoto was popular and energetic they never ended up speaking. Still, Yamamoto was kind to him and even asked Tsuna for advice. Following the advice, however, resulting in him breaking his arm and in an act of desperation he went to the roof of the school to kill himself, thinking he'd be kicked off the team since he couldn't play in the new season. Tsuna saved his life, and from there on Yamamoto considered Tsuna one of his best friends.
Reborn -Tsuna's tutor- decided to recruit Yamamoto into Tsuna's mafia family. Because Reborn looks like a baby Yamamoto thought he was just playing a game like cops and robbers, and agreed to be part of the Vongola family. Reborn took a liking to Yamamoto -and Gokudera immediately hated him lol- and began training him. They had many crazy shenanigans and because Yamamoto is a moron, he thought all of it was just for fun.
Students at Namimori began to fall victim to attacks by a gang from Kokuyou Middle. Yamamoto is ranked as the second strongest student at Namimori and thus is on their hit list, so after some scuffles involving Gokudera, Tsuna and one of the gang members they all head over to their hideout to take care of business. Yamamoto gets into a fight with one of the members, Ken, but is fighting oddly because he wants to protect his body since the new season is coming up. However, once Tsuna is in danger Yamamoto throws that to the wayside and defeats his opponent, saying he's fine with the injuries he has and can play regardless to alleviate Tsuna's fears. After that, he takes on a much stronger man, Lanchia, but despite reading into his attacks is overpowered and knocked out. Tsuna, Gokudera, Reborn and Bianchi move on to defeat Mukuro, the head of the gang.
Things don't settle down after that. While out with everyone, Tsuna, Gokudera and Yamamoto are attacked by Squalo and defeated soundly. Afterward, Reborn hands out a set of ring halves to the people he's deemed to be Tsuna's "guardians," or the main positions of the Vongola family. Yamamoto gets the ring of Rain (there are seven rings in all; the boss has the Sky ring, and the others are Rain, Cloud, Lightning, Storm, Mist and Sun) and becomes Tsuna's Rain Guardian. However, there is an opposing group who follows another successor to the name of Vongola's Tenth boss called the Varia. The group challenges Tsuna and his guardians to a fight, which Reborn accepts for him as he is wont to do.
Yamamoto asks his father to teach him kendo, which implies that he knew his father practiced (which is a reasonable assumption since they have their own dojo, apparently) and is rewarded with lessons of the Shigure Souen style. He uses this sword style to fight his opponent -Squalo, same guy as before- and wins because he's a badass. It's this fight that proves to everyone that Yamamoto is scarily capable when he needs to be, and a very dependable person. The entire skirmish between Tsuna's group and the Varia ends in Tsuna's victory, and everyone gets their entire ring and all's well.
EXCEPT NOT.
Because now Tsuna and Gokudera get transported to the future courtesy the ten-year bazooka, a weapon that swaps the victim of the blast with their counterpart ten years in the future. Tsuna wakes up in a coffin and meets older!Gokudera for about five minutes until he's replaced with teenage Gokudera, and then they're both picked up by a member of CEDEF (Vongola's intelligence division) named Lal Mirch. They almost get attacked but are saved by a 25-year-old Yamamoto, who is pretty much the same as his younger self in every mental aspect save that he's wised up to the fact that the "mafia game" isn't a game. The older!Yamamoto and Reborn bring Tsuna and Gokudera up to date on what's going on; namely, that the Vongola family is being hunted down by another family called the Millefiore.
Older!Yamamoto takes Tsuna and Gokudera out to pick up some of their friends and is replaced by his teenage self. He gets smacked around by a Millefiore member and is out like a light. From there, they all begin training to take on the Millefiore so they can go back home to the past. Yamamoto and Gokudera are sent out to scout for a potential guardian and are jumped by Gamma, another Millefiore member. Gokudera was being a little prat and demanding to fight Gamma alone despite Yamamoto insisting they fight together, so they have a tiff and Yamamoto leans against a tree all huffily while Gokudera gets beat up.
Yamamoto finally just smacks Gokudera and then lectures him on not being a jerk, and Gokudera decides that he has to save face so he says they should team up and beat Gamma; this is not what happens. Gamma introduces their faces to the ground, tortures Gokudera a bit, badly wounds Yamamoto and is about to kill them both when Hibari floats on in and saves their pathetic hides. Later, when they're both recovering, Yamamoto admits that he might've been too harsh and presumably compliments Gokudera a bunch, but asks that Reborn not repeat them to Gokudera.
The Vongola plans to attack the Millefiore headquarters (the Melone Base), and during this time they all get separated. Yamamoto ends up having to fight a badass named Genkishi, who destroys him utterly despite him pulling out some pretty sweet moves. Yamamoto charges face-first into a wall -on accident, totally- and passes out, and is almost killed when again he's saved by Hibari. He then plays the part of a hostage when Tsuna goes to meet the commander of the Melone Base, Shouichi Irie (who ends up joining the Vongola side as a traitor to Millefiore, apparently the future!Tsuna planned this, etc etc).
Yamamoto is not down with losing, but he seems to be taking it rather well until Squalo bursts into the Vongola base and beats the daylights out of him before dragging his sorry carcass off for some mountain training. There, Squalo tells Yamamoto that he has a choice between devoting himself to the sword or baseball; that he's talented enough to master both of them, but that only by devoting himself can he be a master of them. Yamamoto picks the sword, but says it's only until he gets back to the past because he's a cheeky brat.
The Vongola have a bit showdown with the Millefiore and Yamamoto gets picked to fight. He's up against Genkishi again, and this time using his box animals and weapons (tools with which he fights) he manages to defeat him. Genkishi is then killed by one of the generals of Millefiore because the boss Byakuran is your typical jerkface psychopath. Yamamoto then moves on to take out the target but is unsuccessful, and the Vongola lose.
Yamamoto doesn't really do much after this. He goes to save Squalo when he's left behind, then defends Ryohei and Gokudera from an opponent called Ghost. Then he just chills out while Tsuna fixes everything, like everybody else. And then they go back to the past yay~
Once they get back everybody gets a chance to relax for a while, until the ninth Vongola boss sends out invitations to the inheritance ceremony. Tsuna will officially become Tenth boss of the Vongola family during it, so Yamamoto's hyped. It's not clear whether or not he's figured out that the mafia game isn't a game just yet, but he appears to be okay with everything so nobody questions it. Anyway, they get some transfer students who are also part of the mafia, the Shimon family. Yamamoto immediately makes friends with the scariest-looking one of the bunch over a mutual love for baseball.
The Shimon family is secretly planning to trash the ceremony and blitz the Vongola family though, and Yamamoto is attacked by Kaoru (his baseball pal) after finding out their plans and is mortally wounded. He tries to leave his family a warning by writing a message in his blood on the floor, but most of it is wiped away and all they manage to find is a cryptic one-word clue.
Yamamoto is unconscious in the hospital in critical condition, and the prognosis is that it's likely he'll never walk again. This is from where I'm taking him.
SAMPLE JOURNAL POST;;
Hi everybody! If you don't know me yet, I'm Yamamoto. I'm Gokudera's friend, for those of you who know who I'm talking about.
You know, this place is kind of cool. I'm not all that sure how I got here, and I'd like to go back home eventually but I think I can enjoy it while I'm here. Oh- is there a way I can call my old man and let him know where I am, though? I don't want him to worry; he always gets angry with me if I'm gone for a while without telling him where I went, hahaha.
SAMPLE RP POST;;
In his room Yamamoto had a cork board where he put all of his pictures of things he wanted to remember. It was silly and sentimental, but Yamamoto liked to distract himself from homework and remember everything that had happened to him as he balanced his pencil between his upper lip and his nose.
An official picture of the Namimori Grade school baseball team. He remembered when he had first joined the team; he'd been so incredibly nervous that he struck out his first time to bat. The coach had reassured him and told him that most kids did the same, but he'd been so furious with himself that he begged his father to take him to the batting cages and refused to leave until he could hit ten pitches in a row. From that day forward, he remained a steadfast member of the team and always started, always.
Yamamoto tugged the photo from the its place wedged into the frame of the board and let the pencil drop, smiling. Some of his team members attended Namimori Middle with him and had joined the team, some had moved on from baseball and some had moved away, but that time, when he was first discovering his love of the sport, had been some of the greatest days of his life. Finding something to pour all of himself into, all his focus and drive and talent, had been like taking a breath of air after being underwater for far too long a time.
And it was the same with the sword, too. Not to mention that he had something else to share with his father, something other than the shop and living together and filial love and respect. Now they could share the blade.
Though, really, the person he had to thank for that was Tsuna. He was thanking Tsuna for an awful lot, lately.
"Takeshi! Come down here and help me clean up." Tsuyoshi's voice floated up the stairs and Yamamoto pushed his chair back, grateful for the excuse to get away from his books and stretch his legs. After a pause he took a tack and pinned the team photo in the center of the board before retreating downstairs to help usher out the last of the night crowd.
