Personality:
Squalo can be described by a simple word: Pride. Proud to be the Second Emperor of the Sword and proud to be one of Xanxus' followers and a Varia. And it's because Squalo is an arrogant bastard who enjoys the feelings of being superior to others either in combat or in a discussion. To him, he will be always right and he will always be the strongest swordsman in the world. Yes, he does possess a big ego and he's very aware of it.
But all of it is not so far from the truth. Squalo's profession is an assassin, and for him killing is pretty common. But assassins do it with style, or should we say, quality. Squalo wouldn't waste any time with any other annoyances if he's in the middle of a job of defeating someone, because that would make the Varia look bad. He enjoys when people fear their name and show them the respect they deserve.
Of course, it goes without saying that he only respects one person who is worthy of such thing, and that's Xanxus. The rest of the world? They need to prove themselves to be worth having Squalo's respect. And if they don't, he will probably laugh and be disrespectful towards them and he won't feel guilty about it. His mouth and manners aren't the best most of the time, he is usually loud and he badmouths people when he is stressed.
It's because Squalo is a loud person who rarely is seen to be calm and quiet. He will probably yell a loud "VOOOIIIII!" when he wants to catch someone's attention or when he just wants to release some stress inside him, or even when he just wants to see what kind of reaction he can get of someone to not get bored.
Despite that, Squalo is shown to be a loyal and devoted person. His loyalty to Xanxus and his devotion to make him succeed as the tenth boss sometimes get the best of him, and being the stubborn bastard he is, he will not rest until the day Xanxus succeeds. His long hair is proof of his devotion for Xanxus since it's the proof of the existence of said promise: "I will not cut my hair until you become the Tenth Boss."
Even so, Squalo is a perceptive person. He's able to see through some people's illusions despite not being an illusion user. This is probably because of the fact that he's always paying attention to what's happening around him to make sure he's not caught in a surprise attack and being able to counterattack them quickly.
Of course for someone like him, losing a battle or just being humiliated is something he will never allow. This is because Xanxus' ideal of not allowing the weak to be an annoyance to them. If you're strong, then you won't lose. Quite simple. They don't take kindness really well after losing because it would mean that they are showing pity towards them and it's worse. Also, they don't need those kind of things in the end.

Timeline: Post the Inheritance Ceremony Arc
Inventory: Squalo will bringing his Varia's uniform along with his sword, that's attached to his hand anyway. It's not like he had something else.
Abilities:
Squalo's best abilities lie in his sword techiniques and the combination of them with the Box Weapon later. Squalo's left hand and replaced them with an artificial sword which he uses to fight.
Three of his most used techniques are Attaco di Squalo, Zona di Squalo and Scontro di Squalo, in which he delivers powerful swings with his sword that cause different kind of effects depending on which one he's using. In "Attaco", he causes a shock wave of attacks that inflict paralysis on an enemy. In "Zona", Squalo thrusts his sword forward multiple times to corner his enemy. And in "Scontro", Squalo slices diagonally in front of him with an almighty attack.
With his box weapon, he can summon Alo (which Squalo gave as a nickname to him) in the Grande Pioggia Squalo attack. This summons a shark-type creature with the Rain attribute which is strong enough to defeat many opponents at once.

There were many things that pissed off Squalo, but at the moment this was the first one that came to his mind. Not only did someone have the balls to kidnap him, but he also didn't have any idea where he could be. Squalo wasn't someone to stay quiet in a place and wait for someone to help him.
He was a man who would take action, usually involving some kind of violence, and solve his problems without asking for help. After all, that would be the same as admitting he was a weak person, and if there was something clear no matter the situation, it was the fact that Squalo was not weak at all.
After all, he was someone who almost got to be Leader of the Varia.
"What a very big piece of shit." Squalo cursed loudly as he made his way out of the forest to reach the city. Those annoying fairies were nothing but a problem trying to mess with his hair. All of them were a bunch of idiots. "Vooooiiii! Isn't there someone who at least provide me with a challenge?!" He yelled his question loudly, waiting for any kind of reaction to be returned.
A wild grin appeared on his face when he could hear some big noise coming from behind him. "Tsk, you're nothing but trash, but let's see if you can keep me entertained for a while!!!" Squalo replied as he launched himself to attack one of the monsters that replied to his call.
He had to entertain himself somehow, right?

VOOOOIIIII!!! So this shit is recording? Good! Listen carefully, you bunch of brats! This better have a good explanation, even if I have to get it from your skull. Tch, what an annoyance! [Squalo glares around once more, before speaking again.] You must have some balls to try to kidnap me. Heh. [A very dangerous smile.] Let's see if you can keep it up like that once I find you.
[And, before he could say something else, you will see him swinging his sword to... a fairy? Yeah. They seem to love Squalo's hair.]
