Seventh Foot!

The Strait of Georgia, separating Vancouver Island with the British Columbia mainland north of the U.S-Canada border, is where six of the seven feet have been found since the first discovery in August 2007.http://www.peninsuladailynews.com/article/20081113/ ( Read more... )

I haven't read the articles in depth, but have been fascinated too, by the phenomenon of what seem to be periodic feet washing up in the area. What I'm most concerned about is the definition of 'natural separation' because that clearly means it wasn't a malicious saw, chop, or forced break or bite, but then again, I've had my feet for 43 years and they're still on pretty tightly. I'm not tryin' to dance over semantics, just curious if the foot came off due to decomposition, and then why aren't the bodies, or other parts of them washing up?! It gets very curious!

I'm hoping in the future we find some whacked morgue worker who decided it would be fun to start this trend, by choosing only the finest of naturally separated feet (from corpses received) to feed into the waterways and then watches the news to see if his work is found.

Or something.

Even if we view the situation with maximum reasonableness, there are still unanswered questions. OK, so this area is where currents tend to take things. The bouyant nature of sneakers is ferrying the feet while the rest of the body is consumed by the sea. People die and end up in the water. Fine. But...why did it just start happening recently? Sneakers and death have been around a long time before 2007.

I imagine if you lived around there, and often walked on the beach, the sight of a shoe in the distance would make you a bit apprehensive!

"Naturally separated"?

Sounds like something that would be on a food package.

And the saga of the mysteriously washing-up-on-shores "naturally separated" feet keeps sounding more and more like a lost X-Files episode.

As an exercise into free association, that song I only remember hearing on Beetlejuice popped into my head when I read the subject of this post:
...
6 foot, 7 foot, 8 foot bunch!
Daylight come and we want go home
...

Ahem.

Hey, I came by to mention the cafe in Bellevue is Cafe Pirouette.. off main.. we need to check back ourselves.. but it was quaint the times we went..

Re: feet! I know it's kooky! people in Vic are coming up with all sorts of ideas like they're the feet from victims of the Tsumami carried by currents.. to crime body dumping.. one foot was a hoax planted after all the news reports.. (someone put an animal paw in a shoe and planted it) They think one might be the match to another foot found.. and they've ID's one foot as to being the foot of a "depressed man that went missing".. it is bizarre..
