Bjorn make bed part deux

Structurally the bed is finished. Now all I have to do is sand it, and stain it. I will have it done by the end of this weekend, and it will be at AnTir West War.

Things I learned. Chisels are slow. Saws are fast. When you screw up something that you are working slowly on, it is usually recoverable. Not so much with power tools. I did a great deal ( Read more... )

You could BUY walnut oil, mix it in w/ the walnut stain and do it that way...or not. I'm not a fan of linseed oil - that shit reeks, but Toby love to use it. I'm a fan of beeswax, but it was precious and probably not used in the large quantities need to seal furniture.

That being said, the bed was uber cool in the state that I saw it in a couple of weeks ago. I can't wait for it's "debut". We should all pig pile on it and see how sturdy it is!

I agree linseed oil reeks eeew. I'm all for stress testing that bed though heh, how many of us do you think we can pile on?.
