i have a pet peeve. i hate it when people don't push their chairs in! this dude in my new office always leaves his chair in the middle of the room, and it is right in front of the door! i have to push his chair in to his desk just to get out of the office and i do it a few times a day

Just say something. "Hey Bob, would you mind pusing your chair in when you get up? Otherwise it ends up blocking the door. Thanks."

Or, do the passive-agressive office "joke" tactic and just take his chair.

I don't think it's anal to want the chair pushed in when it's right in front of a door. That would irritate me quickly, too. Not sure what you can say or do, though, without creating waves. Good thing you're not going to be there too much longer!
