I was at my busiest in the last 2 weeks before the departure to finish my requirements ahead of the others, that I could barely pack my stuff. Luckily, even after going home past 3 in the morning of March 9th from our college’s event, I have managed to finally prepare everything I needed.
March 10th came. The delegates coming from different parts of the country have gathered for a 1-night stay in Bayview Park Hotel, Manila for a pre-departure orientation with Ms. Mignonette Dela Paz-Reposar. Together with it, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Leon G. Flores III, shared us facts about the National Youth Commission, and the duties and responsibilities as youth ambassadors.
Beforehand, our passports and flight documents were handed over to us during the registration. Upon receiving mine, I was just so happy to see the Japan Visa init. Psyched, as it has always been my long hoped dream, and even more thrilled as we were going in Japan for a purpose and not just as a tourist.
I shared the room with 2 delegates from Mindanao. I always feel awkward during first meetings, as I am the type who barely speaks unless someone will talk to me,but thanks to them, and their jolly and friendly personalities, I felt comfortable afterwards. They were my first 2 friends in the batch.
And so we dozed off, excited for what’s ahead of us.
