Mom was diagnosed with Type II Diabetes when I was 12. (I'm 35 now, so 23 years ago.) Because we had lousy insurance it went ill-treated for years and she developed End Stage Renal Failure, which resulted in her going on Dialysis 9 years ago.
Last year she had a heart attack, which caused her to be hospitalized for a month, and resulted in her death on 24 November last year.

It was a very difficult time, with incredible ups and downs. But now I'm able to look back- not just on that month, but on my entire life- and I'm gateful for all of the time I was granted with Mom and for the incredible friendship we had forged toward the end of her life.
She was an amazing woman, and I try to live by her example. :)
