That's pretty shitty about the keys.

Maybe the multiple interviews is because it is a Mom and Pop shop and they want to be sure they can trust and get along with the candidate.
Chain stores are far less personal and, thus, able to fire people easily without fear of lawsuits, unemployment costs, and such.
