I just realised that the two male leads in the story i'm working on are both very similiar to boyfriends i've had....

Also if i were to write about a character with long blond hair who read a lot would it look like i was just trying to copy luna? What about if she had curly red hair? is that too much of a sterotype?

I don't think being blonde and reading a lot is enough to be a stereotype. But then, I'm not a huge Harry Potter fan, so it wouldn't immediately make me think of Luna. I think you're okay so far, though. It's a fairly general description, and it's what you do with the finer and deeper points of the character that will count.

Ooooh...I thought you were talking about an anime charater when you wrote 'Luna' and I was going to ask who she was.
I agree that being blonde and liking to read is not a stereo type and wouldn't make people instantly think "rip off!"
A blonde stereo type would be making her dumb *shakes fist* and a red-head hot tempered and coqetteish...not that being coqetteish is a bad thing. ^_~
