*hugs you for the warm, cuddly feelings triggered by this post*

And you know what? Those mix tapes are back :) I've been successfully lured into the addiction that is the new Doctor Who (tho, I'm not so sure how much is Eccleston/Piper/Tennant squeeage and how much seduction by Russel T. Davies queerness) - and (usually hidden behind f-locks and cuts) people are not only making vids and fics but also "Fanmixes".

Just like the best of the old tapes a fanmix comes with a lovingly designed cover and tho it's usually mp3s, its length usually fits a traditional wav audio CD.

It seems the doctor really connects us through time and space ;)

As for Q-Squared: It's definitely Q-Squee :) I'm still a sucker for "mirror" stories and Trelane / Q comes quite close to that kind of character exploration.

Thanks for the hug!

I have a couple of CD's in progress, but they're not fannish. One is called "Covered," and it will have songs performed by the original artist, followed by a cover--IF the cover is good/different enough to redefine the song and make it the performer's.

The other one I want to make is basically a lullaby CD--songs quiet enough to have on when I'm napping--I'm tired of the limited collection I have.

And I have a CD I love that I made a few years ago called "My Mistress' Eyes/Love Lies Bleeding" that was inspired when I got my copy of this CD came out. My mix basically had a few of the sonnets from "When Love Speaks," a couple songs from the OMWF soundtrack and then a whole random mix of songs I like but don't generally listen to the whole album, or songs I bought individually from iTunes. It has things on from New Order's"Bizarre Love Triangle" to Elvis' "(Let Me Be Your) Teddy Bear" to Tracy Chapman's "Give Me One Reason" to The Archies' "Sugar, Sugar." The first track is Alan Rickman reading "My Mistress' ( ... )

I did a cool mix tape for a dance once- James Morrison talking about picking somebody up in the desert and part of Days of Our Lives, and the telephone time lady...(I was a very odd almost performance art modern dancer in a past life during my collegiate years--but do not tell anyone...)

I kinda wish I had kept it. Silly me- for not keeping it!

I love Q. Picard is teh sex, as the young kids say.

Totally trivial aside-- did you know that John de Lancie played a time traveller, Eugene in Days of Our Lives, and post modern dancer qplagh got hooked onto mid 80's Days thanks to this oddball storyline that involved him?
Or that de Lancie played a baddie on SG1...

I think maybe de Lancie is actually really Q, just playing at being an actor.

Oh, never mind ;)

Yes, I would bond with Picard.
Yes, slashing Q and Picard is one of the few slashes I can get.

Yes, Picard is absofuckinglutely teh sex.

I like the idea of Q really being a Q playing JDL.

I know he was on "Days of Our Lives," and I've seen him occasionally in guest spots.

I got to talk to JDL twice on the phone. :-)

And, ok, I won't tell anyone about the thing you just put in my LJ, but my lips are sealed. :-)

When I interviewed JDL by phone in 1994, he complained about "Q-Less," the DS9 ep featuring Q and Vash. He said, more or less,"Why would Q be interested in that woman?"

I did write a Q/Janeway story once b/c of her resemblance to the glorious Kate. It was kind of a '30
s-40's romantic comedy--totally fluffy. My Picard/Q stuff is generally not fluffy except the backrub vignette. I have got to post that on Power Plays ( ... )
