And with my interpretation of what it is and what it isn't, it becomes quite complex in my head. I think Arthur is in love with this chivalrous idea of love and he has very real issues of his own to work out. Gwen challenges him, because she sees his flaws, but is willing to believe that he can overcome them. Gwen isn't in love with Arthur, but rather with his possibilities and how that would benefit the people of Camelot. What he could become, instead of who he is.

You know, this will be my personal canon from now on. Everything you said here makes so much sense.

Also, very cool vid :) Greatediting.

Ah thanks, glad you enjoyed the vid and the little meta. Gwen/Arthur is too sweet for my taste to get invested, but I always got were they are coming from. They are trying so hard to make it work, even when a lot of things should come natural to them as couple. Plus Gwen is awesome when she lets her detective skills loose.

I'm not that a big Arthur/Gwen fan either, mostly because their relationship feels forced to me. I blame sloppy writing for it, but I love your interpretation of their relationship. It makes so much sense in the context of the show and I certainly prefer it over sloppy writing.

(Yes. I love Gwen when she gets all "private eye"-like. She's so clever, I wish she'd have to do more again.)

Oh sloppy writing plays a huge part in this, plus Gwen or Morgana scenes seem to land first on the chopping block when they need to delete something. I watched the deleted scenes for S4 and we got a piggyback ride instead of a very good discussion between Gwen and Arthur regarding magic. She addresses her father's death and comes around and supports Arthur's position, that magic can't be all EVIL. Her council was sound.

I think you give one of the best interpretation that could be given for their relationship. I was nodding all the way. Also, the video was gorgeous!

Merci beaucoup. And yes, I think the interpretation isn't too far-stretched or cynical for what we have seen of them. They just try to make the relationship work, when each of them is lacking in something essential emotionally to be in love.

Hehe, see I can make perfect sense out of a lot of things that doesn't seem that way at first glace. On the other hand I'm pretty sure, the writers didn't intend this on purpose and with all the emotional consequences.
